I am confused about the audience

It had some jokes that were inappropriate for kids, many of the scenes were just not appropriate. But they didn't take them far enough for adult animation. it's a weird middle ground that didn't really work.

I was genuinely surprised it wasn't just some shitty adult cartoon filled with swearing but considering its rating it was very entertaining and made me binge instead of cringe.

That's how I felt when I first watched it. It ended up being a comfy show for me once they found their footing though. It reminds me of a weaker version of Bob's Burgers. The setting really helps.

Nope. It’s been dead for far too long. At this point even if execs wanted to bring it back (they don’t), it would be a completely different team working on it. It would take them awhile to find their footing again, and when they did it would feel completely different. The show you knew and loved is dead forever. Best to let it rest in peace than to bring it back and completely fuck up the memory.

I like the running theme of every character coping with grief in some way, it’s a little detail that make it more endearing than other adult sitcoms. But it also makes it extra lame when they do some edgy jokes, it doesn’t fit.

I think that middle ground might be too niche of an audience. Anyone who is okay with cartoons swearing is probably going to be okay with basically anything else you'd put in there, so most adult animation just tends to do that. Aside from the fact that the simpsons just isn't funny anymore, I think another big part of the reason people don't care for modern simpsons is because it's just a bit too milquetoast compared to its contemporaries. Even the earliest episodes are considered tame today even though they were controversial when they were new.

It's fun, it's creative and has a good family dynamic without being all "look how special and unique our free spirited children are" (ie Bob's Burgers past the first couple of seasons). Just the right level of adult humour, not prudish but not overly gory or "look she's wiping her butthole on the window and leaving a mark" like other 'adult' cartoons.

Hope it gets a proper S2 renewal ('S2' that was confirmed is likely just the second batch of episodes that were initially ordered)

I downloaded this a while ago and finally finished it.
And I must say, it was chore to watch.

I have a hard time understanding how ghosts work. Specifically seeing them. In most shows usually they down play the existence and have some bullshit reason X-peraon or people can see them.

In this show it's everybody that can see the ghosted. Granted like people in this thread have said you don't see many guests so usually it's the family who see ghosts.
