Grimsburg
Since anons keep bringing up Haunted Hotel, I wanted to talk about Grimsburg. Kinda discovered the show by accident. Ended up binging the 2 seasons. It's pretty alright. Shockingly had some good animation at times. Biggest flaw is probably how on the nose it is with it's comedy & references. Also needed more Stan & Mr. Flesh. Anyone else seen it?

Must I find lust provoking images to get attention for this show?

I saw season 1. First off, its not very funny or conventionally entertaining. Its got its own kind of compelling, though. It evokes a kind of weird pity for its characters, like watching mentally disabled people being made sport of on a sleazy daytime tv talk show between an appearance by a cold reading fake psychic and a midget lesbian love triangle confrontation.

I'd watch season 2.

Mmmm kinda. Maybe like early seasons South Park before it became completely social commentary.

The murder mystery angle definitely gives Grimsburg more of an identity compared to most attempts at new Fox cartoons. Comedy doesn't always land, but there are more hits than misses.

Yeah the hook of constant mysteries, killers, & anomalies helps as a good hook compared to most series. Let's them do a variety of genres per episode rather than throwing the whole kitchen sink every episode.

All it'll take is a small push via some niche internet artist drawing a girl or two to at least get the ball rolling.

I don't think you're gonna find any.

Anyway the first season took a while to find its footing, but the second was pretty ok.

Mr. Flesh isn't a ghost.... I think. First he's an imaginary friend of Stan's mind produced from neglect & lack of friends. But then other people are able to see him under different circumstances. So he is a being of his own but even he implies he's a product of Stan's mind. So maybe Stan himself is a powerful psychic who can create entities but doesn't know it.

Not him but none. It's mean spirited. Just like Quagmire raping Marge then killing the whole family. That's part of why people don't like modern Family Guy compared to the original first couple of seasons that were more structured like sitcoms.

Peter getting his comeuppance by Brian shaving his fur/getting naked was a mildly funny payoff.

It's also the least graphic, the joke is just "Dang, hairless animals look weird as fuck, huh".

Grimsburg is just another shitty generic adult animated millennial sitcom with a shitty generic adult animated millennial artstyle. That artstyle is cancer and worse than beanmouth and any show with it is guranteed to be ass. Haunted Hotel was even more shit since it was made by unfunny Reddit and Morty crew.

>Biggest flaw is probably how on the nose it is with it's comedy & references
a lot of modern adult animated shows feels insistent on making references for every line. watching the great north its incredibly obnoxious with how annoyingly media obsessed the characters are before being characters
grimsburg is actually pretty bearable with how its mostly limited to flute and the skeleton

bento's background art direction is pretty solid
its a lot easier to find artists who can just do that stuff as opposed to animate

Anonymous No.150945585 [Report]
>>150943095
Yeah it's fine for the plots to reference horror media if they're not like outright saying "hey remember that movie" to the audience. It works for Flute because he's this lazy slob who spends too much time streaming movies. Kinda like how cutaway gags in early Family Guy work because the idea of Peter is he gets his idea of how the world works from TV. On paper at least.

I love this show. Season 2 was great. I like Pentos and Summers, also the side plot about Mr. Flesh and Stan is really weird and fascinating. I dig it. Looking forward to Season 3.

Kinda wish they didn't go with the gay Pentos angle. It's so easy to have the quirky gay character in these adult animated shows. Mr. Flesh was already flamboyant enough.

This isn't even a joke btw. Nowadays western adult animation can depict the most graphic, bloody violence conceivable, but even the SLIGHTEST hint of nipple is off the table entirely. Weird-ass priorities...
