While at first it seems obvious that Diana could just talk no jutsu Zatanna, I think it's more likely that Cale has her by the balls so hard that Zatanna will not relent and will really be going after Diana's life with all she has.

The only thing about this book which I have not liked is that Diana's victories come to her so easily. I really want Zatanna's logomancy to thwart Diana's wicca in a way that she can't deal with. I'm hoping this will be her first real challenge, and I will be disappointed if it isn't.

It's a major plot point that this WW is just inherently good regardless of her upbringing or influences. Circe and the various gods remark on this repeatedly because they are baffled by it. Lifelong Mugga here, DC was always completely inaccessible due to all the crises and numbered earth's making it impoasible to just dive in. Absolute is a nice line. I like WW despite not knowing anything about her mainline arcs. The art and scripting are good. Bats' art is nice and while I don't like it as much as WW, props for compressing the creation of his rogues' gallery into a single arc. I don't care for Absolute Supes. Still have to binge Flash, GL, and MM, but MM looks the most interesting.

Shan't read, watch or play anything with a femoid as a protagonist.

An element from AWW, a reoccurring theme, is that whoever Diana knows becomes a better person from their knowing her.
She makes the evil witch Circe into a loving mom, befriends the demons of hell, even seems to get on the good side of some of her villains like Dr. Poison and queen Clea.

I think she'll keep that up as she interacts with the characters of the other Absolute lines

It's easy to get into. You just start at number 1. And these are creative stories with a whole new universe which is fun to learn about starring some of the most famous characters form pop culture.
It's the same reason why the Ultimate line at Marvel is doing well. It gets rid of some of the barriers to entry and has a slightly more original appeal while still having these iconic characters.

I started buying AWW because I liked issue 2 and thought there'd be a focus on Steve and Diana's romance.
It's odd how, outside of the terrible Kanigher era of the late-40s-through-early-60s, romance has never been a focus of Wonder Woman books.
You'd think it would be a natural appeal since Wonder Woman's audience is mainly women (who like romance as a rule) and men who want to fuck Diana. (who may want to imagine themselves as Steve Trevor)

I find mainline Batman and Superman more compelling with better status quos and supporting casts.
I have never given a shit about the Flash, so I can't comment on that.
And Absolute Green Lantern is fucking shit with terrible art and pacing.

But because it's a new universe, it appeals to comic buyers. Hence they do well.

Its got a clearly defined entry point and a planned ending, which is huge. Plus its familiar enough that normies recognize these characters but with enough of a fresh twist that you can't take them for granted. People appreciate the consistency of the aesthetics and themes while also relating more to the paradigm between villains and heroes. The Joker being a wealthy CEO is the most obvious but in general the good guys are scrappy outsiders to a cruel machine dominated by malicious elites. I also think the characterization is stronger by virtue of being self contained, there's not a huge backlog of history complicating Diana's moral compass. We know what she's about. Its also sick how visually distinctive each hero is, these are just instant classic designs for the most part desu.
