Indie is sadly where you have to go for animation now if you want something original

Unless Fox cancels it again

No TBS to save it this time

which means Hulu comes to the rescue maybe? I mean, Hulu came for Futurama and King of the Hill, so why not American Dad?

i think most of these properties will still be active well into the 2030s, regardless of how many people still watch them. it's a comfort thing, people need the stability of a familiar world.

I was actually expecting American Dad to become a Hulu Original once it inevitably left TBS, so for it to be brought back to FOX like originally is very surprising. Must be a more highly valued IP than I give it cred it for.

they won't hopefully
>>150957097
they'll probably be using it for special episodes like they did with Simpsons and Family Guy when it does come back to Fox, so keeping fingers crossed for that

It's something to watch
Something new
It's a staple

It's comfy core.
Hell, Adventure Time had all it needed to be comfy core for kids. But instead of using Sugar like a cute far too tight fleshlight who has good ideas someone thought it was a good idea to make her a show runner.

So now it's a dead IP because no one knows how to thot wrangle the cute bisexual artho's.

The next step. The next logical step isn't mindless content made for the people who created it.
It's consistent content. That's it.
Get the ball rolling, find a niche, jealously guard it and expand on it subtly without upsetting the fanbase you're lucky to have.

That's it.
That's fucking all you need.

Damn right. For me, Mike Judge has always been a delight. He hasn't made anything remotely awful, and the worst he's even done still manages to be funny and entertaining in the long run, which is in my book incredible

its cheaper to keep a show running than making a new one, as long as american dad has consistent ratings there's no reason to cancel it while it outperforms new shows
the writers are still keeping the humor fresh so it works for me

All shows should end after 100 episodes.
All movies should end after 100 minutes.
All comics should end after 100 issues.

A lot of shows should end before 100 episodes to be honest. I think 30-80 or so is the sweet spot
Anonymous No.150963999 [Report]

100 is a lot of episodes. It seems only these legacy cartoons are able to go on forever for some reason.

I think the death of television has a lot to do with this. When YouTube offers a more convenient and personalized alternative, the only shows that survive are the ones that are already really good at surviving. Creators with new ideas are even more dissuaded from the traditional legacy show business model, which has lost any credibility or prestige advantage it once had, to the point where YouTube becomes the default.
