That’s… not the point, lol. John and Dave demonstrated attraction to the opposite sex several times. The girls didn’t, so far as I recall, but regardless sexual orientation for 2 kids is shown.
And like it or not, in 2009-2010 most people didn’t actively think on asexuality. There’s no reason to assume Hussie imagined the kids as asexual till act 5. Given his new fanbase’s bias for gay ships, if he were to change the kids to anything it would be gay. All the more so for act 6 where the fan bias for yuri/yahoo ever increased. Any kids still straight in-spite of this, Jade for instance, say more about the original intentions than the other way around. Unlike the trolls, the kids were always planned.
