I work with children. All of the kids who fixate on being LGBT allies or identify as LGBT in some capacity (neopronouns, neosexualities, etc) have quite a few things in common.
>they're either Anglo or Asian (this is sharp contrast to the average student being Hispanic)
>they're either neurodivergent or clearly undiagnosed (you can always tell by the shape of their faces and their behavior)
>they're usually girls (again, autistic and/or just weird/frumpy looking)
>they're broke and lonely
>their parents are neglectful
There was one student that stood out, let's call her Katie. Katie has fetal alcohol syndrome, and didn't really get any attention from boys (at first) because she looked weird. She was Hispanic on top of that, and brown girls tend to be quite masculinized in terms of temperament. Katie liked to dress like a tomboy, so Katie decided to start going by "Michael" and would go by Katie and Michael interchangably.
Then she stopped doing that when she hit puberty and all of a sudden she started getting attention from boys. Now she's back to Katie exclusively and dresses in skirts, crop tops, and shorts. The same thing happened to a completely different autistic trans boy who de-transitioned and now she walks around proudly wearing dresses and skirts.
