I think Jill Thompson, the writer of the source material has tried again and again to bring Scary Godmother back in an animated form. Unfortunately for whatever reason, studios refuse to greenlight any new projects. Which is a shame because I think the artstyle could be better adapted. Especially if they wanted to stick to 3D.

Scary Godmother is a unique situation in that we all loved it because we grew up on it but remember 2 years back, they didn't air either it or Grandma.
I remember just hearing that news and feeling old. Like, "wait, the kids aren't watching Scary Godmother and Grandma?". And it occurs to me as an adult those two were as "much of my last 3 months of the year" as the fucking Peanuts specials. Sure it was just that "they aired every year" and didn't have the "family gathered round" feeling. But that was honestly part of the charm, like, it was this tradition only you and your siblings knew about because you'd go to your parents thinking they were some kind of classics of the holiday and your parents would have no idea what you were talking about for the former and just know the song for the latter.

Can't remember everything about these movies but I distinctively remember just hating the Wolf Guy, the little sister and frankly being bored with the plotlines of these movies. I think it would have helped if the kids were suffering from a curse that actually made them into real progressively real monsters and they have to work with the Godmother with several tasks in order to get back to normal and go home.

obligatory "of course saar" to start, but the animation is literally dogshit. Like the art style, the design choices, those are cute. They're fairly faithfully adapted from the comic. The problem is they move like ass, mainframe has never been amazing at animated character acting or the replication of real world movements, even in a stylized capacity.

I liked this movie well enough as a kid but I always thought the bully's comeuppance was a little overkill, I mean did they really need that scene in the background of the final musical number where the fruity werewolf drags Jimmy into the bathroom and then he comes out looking shellshocked?
