Why did Megamind spawn so many memes?

youtube video essay faggots. same thing happened with the incredibles. both are rare good capeshit movies but the only reason people talk about them is to ride trends

It's one of those movies that has a pretty great opening and final act, but everything in the middle feels like it drags on because it mostly revolves around relationship drama and "fake identity" bullshit on top of Jonah Hill's obnoxious character being a huge focus. A lot of genuinely clever ideas and some good jokes, but the main ideas of a villain-centric movie never get explored as deeply as they could have.

Not a fair comparison because Puss in Boots 2 was the last piece of media in the franchise, while Megamind has a shitty sequel and and also shitty streaming show.

So a lot of Megamind's meme power nowadays is just about how terrible the new Megamind media is, not about the quality of the original movie.

There's a bit more effort in it than you might expect, something you can at least appreciate. No kid is going to notice the color theory that the creators threw in there for Roxanne's outfits, and actually showing Metroman's super speed in real time instead of just saying he actually did that is a cool detail as well.
Its the little things like that. Roxanne could have just had random outfit colors, and they could have simply said Metroman was so fast you couldn't see it.
