I have heard that sales are suffering in Italy, still not crisis level or anything, but down quite a bit from like a decade ago.
Scandinavia I've heard less news about(despite being scandinavian) but I suspect the comics are weakening a bit here too.
Probably same story in Germany.
That being said, Germany's duck comic sales alone a few years ago was beating the entire Marvel library's total sales, I seem to remember.
So speaking without too much research here:
Sales are likely down, but they were high to begin with.
Anonymous No.151094615 [Report]
>>151094455
I imagine that is the case. Maybe a bit like with Shonen Jump still being huge and the biggest in Japan but sales in general have fallen.

I heard there's a digital app version of it in Sweden now, I wonder how that squares up with sales and being profitable, or how many kids read on it. I'd imagine reading comics on their tablet is the least interesting thing to do for a kid with a tablet.

>So you are from Northern Europe? I'm not sure I've ever read stories from there, as in Italy we've got a plenty output ourselves
I am scandinavian, yeah.
As far as output from up here, it seems like
-Norway might have the most notable artists(including Arild Midthun)
-Denmark has the most writers(Erickson, Transgaard, Åstrup are just a few that all wrote ) but artists tend to be non-danish, you can just look at the artists in this thread: Carlos Mota(Brazilian), Rodriques/Francesco Rodriguez Peinado(Spanish), Miquel Pujol(Spanish), Cynthia Campanario Pineda(Spanish)
There's also italian Massimo Fecchi, who drew the Revenge of the Pharaoh comic I storytimed earlier, he does plenty of work for Egmont.
Sweden and Finland follow the danish mold mostly, though all of them do have some artists I believe.
Up here, we get a weekly that has a few egmont comics, usually Danish, but basically all of Europe outside of Italy contributes to the weekly. Netherlands more than most.
But... we also get a monthly that is basically entirely italian, with maybe one egmont story. Thanks to Italy's insane output, we also get a bimonthly special that is usually over 500 pages.
