I listened to a libtard podcast about the X-Men where the hosts interviewed Claremont. He says that he intended Rachel and Kitty to inevitably get together and that that was the hidden open secret of their relationship in the 18 issue X-Men: The End series he did from 2004-2006. When Kitty’s president, and Rachel is acting as her advisor and they show their family at the end, one of the boys was intended to be Rachel’s redheaded son- but he claims the colorist messed up and made him another brunette.
Makes way more sense than Rachel and Betsy. I only recall them interacting together once, in Claremont’s Uncanny run right into House of M when they get sucked into an endless, timeless white void. Arguably they could have done as much flirting and infinite fucking in there before having to enter the House of M universe and getting their memories wiped of their time. But I’m just not buying the idea that they’d be so into each other just because they’re telepaths.
