>movie opens with a flashback explaining how Nick and Judy defeated Bellwether and how it's been several months since, the new mayor is a buff Patrick Warburton horse who used to be an action film star
>Zootopia is preparing for its centennial celebration, with a gala being thrown by the richest family in town, the Lynxleys
>we rejoin Nick and Judy as they are undercover, acting as a husband and wife, with Finnick as their baby
>they are trying to intercept an anteater voiced by John Leguizamo who is smuggling catnip, they initially seem to be doing well thanks to Nick's silver tongue but then Judy fucks up picking the lock and exposes them
>highly destructive car chase ensues which leads to the mayor's new statue being broken, several ZPD officers to be injured, and credit for the smugglers' arrest going to two asshole zebra officers, the 'Zebros'
>Bogo chews out Judy and Nick, calling them one-hit wonders and saying if they fuck up again he will split them up, then orders them to attend counselling
>therapy session plays out as in the trailers, just stupid joke after stupid joke, nothing constructive achieved apart from giving Judy and Nick more ammo to hate their jobs

>allegedly these walls were invented by Milton Lynxley, leader of the lynx family, and the book was protected from a snake that tried to steal it many years ago; supposedly this snake murdered the tortoise housemaid of the Lynxleys to try and get the book, as a result all reptiles were shunned from Zootopia and have not been seen in the city in decades
>Judy compares the anteater's van with the catering van going into the gala and sees it's the same one, she cartoon-teleports to Nick's flat and says they should investigate since she found snakeskin in the van
>he says no, but she strongarms him and they drive to the party in Judy's shitty old meter maid cart
>at the gala they put swanky outfits on and Nick is quite obviously taken with Judy in her yellow gown but he plays it off
>Nick is sent to check out the Lynxley book, which is on display, while Judy dodges Bogo and chats up Pawbert, the awkward nerdy son of the Lynxley family, it is evident his father and brother and sister don't respect him at all and they shove him off the stage
>Bogo catches Nick and in the chaos a snake appears on stage and steals the book, sending the crowd into a frenzy

>the snake also kidnaps Milton and drags him to an eye scanner and forces him to open it, inside is a model showing that as part of the centennial the Lynxleys intend to expand Tundratown
>Judy catches up with them and the snake claims the lynxes are the true killers and snakes are not bad guys, but before he can elaborate Nick knocks him out with a Rapunzel-esque frying pan smack
>Milton demands the book from Judy and orders his children to kill the snake and burn the evidence, Judy senses something is not right and makes a break for it
>at the same time the snake wakes up, Bogo enters the room and the snake, disoriented, fangs him and he goes down, poisoned
>his second in command, female Captain Hogbottom, sees this and from her POV it looks like Judy and Nick just killed Bogo, she orders the ZPD to turn on them
>they flee, the snake gets away on a motorbike driven by a cloaked figure, and make it as far as the outskirts of the estate before they are bundled into the back of a limo by Mr. Big's henchmen
>we now discover that the horse mayor is under the thumb of the lynxes and has been intimidated into being their puppet, he reports back to them about Nick and Judy's whereabouts throughout the film, otherwise a pointless character

>back at Mr. Big's mansion we find that his business has now been converted into a fashion company by Fru Fru and he now spends all his time doting on little Judith, his granddaughter
>Mr. Big arranges for new identities and new clothing for Nick and Judy, advising them to skip town because the lynxes now want them dead, Nick agrees but Judy insists they continue to investigate, by now this is clearly annoying Nick
>Mr. Big says they should talk to someone who knows Marsh Market, a ghettolike area of Zootopia, because this is where reptiles were last seen, so Judy hits up Nibbles, a beaver podcaster she follows online who talks about conspiracy theories, to drive them there

>a lizard named Jesus (yes, really) sits them down and analyzes the book, he says there is a page missing and also explains that there is a secret message hidden in the metal cover only snakes will be able to see when it is heated
>he also says the centennial expansion will lead to Marsh Market being frozen and bulldozed to make room for more Tundratown, so the reptiles will be further displaced (ARE YOU PICKING UP ON THE SUBTLE ALLEGORY YET)
>the snake shows up again and steals the book, Judy and Nick chase him across the market and into the water tubes, a fun chase sequence ensues but Judy almost drowns so Nick grabs her and diverts them out an escape valve
>Nick almost gives Judy mouth to mouth but she spits up the water just in time, coward animators

>they are now stuck at the bottom of a big mountain in goat territory, two very gay-coded goats come down the hill and explain there is an old lodge at the peak where reptiles used to hang out
>Judy and Nick scale the mountain, bickering the whole time, and in the process Judy's old carrot pen, which she had gifted to Nick to symbolize their friendship, falls and smashes
>they give each other the silent treatment until they reach the lodge, inside are the remains of reptiles and newspaper clippings that suggest there used to be a dedicated reptile district called Reptile Ravine but the lynxes memoryholed it
>about this time, they realize the lodge is rotten and it starts to split apart, the ZPD arrive and try again to capture them with tranq darts, Nick and Judy end up on opposite sides of the split
>the snake and Pawbert (he was the cloaked driver) arrive and rescue Judy as Nick is taken into custody, a dart hits her just as they haul her out and she passes out, they drive her away to a desert hideout in the dunes where ostracized animals live
>the snake, who finally introduces himself as Gary, says he had arranged the anteater to smuggle him into the gala so he could take the book back to prove his family's innocence, apparently it was his grandma Agnes that was accused of killing the tortoise maid
>Agnes was the true founder of Zootopia but did not have the funds, so she turned to the lynxes to be investors and at the last moment they tore out her patent from the book and framed her for murder
>Reptile Ravine is now buried under Tundratown, hence why Milton wants to keep expanding it
>Pawbert says he knows what his family is doing is wrong and wants to help expose them (yeah we can see where this shit is going)
>Gary heats the journal by the fire and to his eyes it reveals a map pinpointing where they need to go

>the three make a plan that they will sneak into the control room and disable Tundratown's climate wall so Gary can survive there long enough to locate Reptile Ravine
>meanwhile Nick is being hauled to prison, Bellwether's scene here from the leaks has been swapped for Nick chatting to Nibbles instead about his insecurities, he says he is afraid to lose Judy because "foxes are usually solitary creatures"
>Nibbles gives him a pep talk and chews them loose from the prison transport, they take out the driver and swerve the van back towards where Judy is
>in doing so they accidentally crack open the prison wall and here we get Bellwether's cameo, she and some other criminals escape never to be seen again, presumably to be addressed in Zootopia 3, those moneygrubbing fuckers
>we now get an unfunny Star Wars reference where Nick bullshits his way through a radio conversation with Hogbottom to pinpoint Judy's location, they hitch a ride with Flash in his stupidly fast car to get there quicker
>an even more unfunny sequence now happens where Nick phones Clawhauser and gets him to hack Paul the mole's computer to disable the ZPD's comms, this is excruciating and goes on for far too long and is ultimately pointless
>Hogbottom gets in position to tranq Judy as she goes for the Tundratown weather controls but Milton, via the mayor, gets on her comms and orders her to switch to a kill instead
>she reluctantly switches her gun to kill but at the last second Flash's car pulls up and deflects the bullet, Judy and her team make it to the Tundratown control room and successfully disable the snow blowers
>but UH-OH, in doing so they reroute heat to the part where Nick and Nibbles are, Nick almost burns alive and for a second it looks like Nibbles has abandoned him but she chews back through and saves him just in time

>Gary is now able to see where the entrance to Reptile Ravine is buried, but UH-OH again, Pawbert stabs Judy with venom! He was evil all along and just wants to make his father proud, don't you love shitty Disney twist villains (they even have Judy here say "this seems too easy, in these stories there's usually a twist villain," the smarmy cunts)
>Pawbert also takes out Nibbles with venom and chucks Gary into the snow so he is paralyzed, he then confronts Nick on the roof
>Gary barely manages to communicate to Nick that they will need the antivenom in Gary's bag, which is currently dangling off the cliff edge

Zootopia wasn't made when they still used spears and stones. Its assumed each animal had their own separate biomes like during the rally, this pig was telling this cat lady to go back to the forest then she said she was from the savannah. Disney's junior novels are made for kids and minimize any references to romance or physical intimacy. In the novel for Frozen, Anna and Kristoff just hug instead of kissing and in the one for Tangled, it calls Rapunzel and Eugene "friends". The movie will be much more detailed and will actually show Nick/Judy's reaction to things, like in that picture when they're riding the walrus. The novel doesn't say they feel awkward and nervous about being mistaken for a couple and having the romantic lighting turned on, but we can see from that screenshot that they actually do.
