How did The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy go from being a genuine horror show to being proto-Fanboy and Chum Chum?
>inb4 "hurrrr it was never a horror show"
Billy and Mandy frequently went into full-blown Courage territory in the Grim & Evil years.

We've told you like a million times, it was a mix of horror/comedy at first and gradually just moved onto the comedy element using horror themes as a backdrop.

The comedy in the later seasons was really juvenile though.

The only season of the show I wasn’t wild about was the last season. It felt like they were kinda checked out at that point. But the rest of the series is great.

Atoms explained that the reason the quality went down, was because they spend more time on the TV movies.

The show in general had a much darker vibe in the Grim and Evil days and was a worthy competitor to Courage as CN's other "scary" series. When it split, for a couple of years it still kept some of the dark atmosphere though it leaned more into the comedy, but by 2006-2007 it became the blueprint for zoomer shit like Fanboy and Chum Chum and Teen Titans Go, which Maxwell Atoms coincidentally ended up working on.
Google still calls B&M a horror show which proves that that's what it once was before it got toned down. At least the Boogeyman movie was good though.
