He's tearing up part of the East Wing, which is not part of the historic White House. It was built in the 1940s, mainly to cover the fact that they were building a bunker underneath it.

Wouldn't surprise me if they were expanding the bunker complex, and the "ballroom" is yet another cover story.

Anonymous No.151111299 [Report]
Just watched this and I had heard it wasn't very good but I ended up being actually very impressed by how bad it was, because it wasn't just the usual harmless bad as much as it was genuinely fucking batshit scattershot bad.

I get that it is not an easy task to make a movie out of a game series that is so light on any form of narrative like Mario but what the fuck was going on here? They act like they're setting up some kind of arc about self-worth going on but then it swerves into Mario wanting to prove himself to his dad (despite his family giving so little of a shit about him that no one minds that he and Luigi disappeared for 3 days??) and neither variations of this plot line ever get developed outside of a couple of characters reminding us Mario is small during quips.

The movie acts like they need a monkey army to fight Bowser but said army was apparently not really necessary since Princess Peach of all people can hold on an entire room of Bowser's minions by herself, a situation she only found herself in because she didn't want Bowser to hurt... a specific single Toad that despite wanting to protect she allowed to tag along with her.

Both Peach and Bowser are obsessed with Mario instantly despite just meeting him, with this bogus excuse that Peach is happy to see another human being but it makes you wonder how the fuck she even knows what a human being is if she never saw one before? What is even the purpose of Mario in this movie? How are we supposed to care about his and Luigi's bond that totally matters except not and the movie knows it because it tried to beg us to care by adding that random "you guys... look how DEEP their brotherly love is cuz once when they were babies Mario beat up a 2nd grader to save Luigi" flashback?

I could keep going on and on, the movie is actually interesting in how utter shit it is, it's almost as crazy as the old 90s live action film was. Is this Nintendo's infiltered vision for these characters? Wild

There's a few problems with it beyond just "how dare he change something."
1. It's being paid for by rich donors. That's bad. We do not want a President that's (even more) in the debt of rich people. When he thinks of who is paying his bills we want him to think of the American voter.
2. Potential for corruption in the form of fundraisers. You are not meant to use the trappings of office, like the white house, to raise money for political gain (No "Republican fundraiser" in the White House). This will absolutely be used for that.
3. Potential for corruption in the form of "paying for a moment of time with the President." This gives the ultrawealthy a very good venue to pay for a chance to pull the President aside for a moment and have "just a brief talk" with him, except the talk doesn't have to be as brief as it does at other venues. It makes backdoor shenanigans even easier.
4. Asbestos. I mean it's low on the priority list but it does look like there was asbestos in the walls and nobody involved cleaned it up properly (sending the signal nobody else should either). It's a little thing, but, fuck, really? You couldn't even clear out the poison-packaging?
5. This is arguably the most important one. It gives Cartoonists like Ben a chance to draw more Trump Architecture pretending like it isn't ugly as fuck. You look at that golden soda machine Ben drew and tell me it isn't cringe.
