It has been a while since I last watched Spongebob but from what I remember... Eugene and him went to college together. Even were friends at some point. But Eugene stole the Krabby Patty formula from Plankton, which I think was an inedible family recipe. That is until Mr. Krabs added the secret ingredient and opened up a successful (?) restaurant.
