Was a time when men and women didn't have the internet filter to warp their minds so the media reflected that.
It's why a lot of cartoons had couples and jealous arcs because most people would have experienced that. Fast forward to now and most your audience consuming cartoons are old single and without kids so a show where the protagonist encounters other people and socializes with them, regardless of sex or attraction factor, is rare. If this isn't fixed I can only imagine what cartoons will look like in the future, perhaps full 12 episode story arcs of a man getting the courage to look outside his window and not to panic that their is a world out there.
