Claymation
Why is Claymation the most SOVLFVL animation? Is there any claymation kino coming soon?

>Most Soulful
I wouldn't call it the most soulful, there was and still is plenty of corporate stop motion animation. However, a big appeal to it is the fact everything is real and hand crafted. Unlike 3d and 2d which is all simulated stop motion relies on real sets and puppets so the artistry is far more immediate.

I really think the real and crafted really sets the medium apart, especially now that slop is taking over short animations, even in the corporate ad sphere.

Did anyone go watch Coraline in theaters awhile back? I didn't because they weren't showing a non 3d feature that i could make time for. Shame really, I wanted to watch it on the big screen

>new Paranorman
oh hell yeah!
>CGI
wh-why? why make a special using CGI instead of stop motion if you're not going to make it into a full series, I would understand CGI then

>Paranorman series
>have Norman talk to ghosts to help them out
weird how little of that we got in the movie, a series would've been great to see Norman interact with the ghosts

Laika was pitching a Paranorman TV show a few years back, maybe this is what came out of that.

Well thats a shame, to be honest, I dont think a full claymation show could be done cheap now, it would be robot chicken quality.

So a Laika product that looks like actual puppets and not just CGI with extra steps?

“Claymation” refers to a hyper specific subset of stop motion animation where actual malleable clay is used. In most cases, the term does not apply. “Stop motion” would be more appropriate.

Because it's the hardest, most time consuming, most work intensive, and slowest form of animation out there. That makes it a passion project from anyone doing it. No one just casually lands a gig on a stop motion project or has to go get a job at a stop motion studio to make ends meet before landing something they really want to do. The stop motion project IS the thing they really want to do. From pretty much everyone involved. The
>The maquette maker
>Scene modelers
>animation crew
They all want to be there and are doing the exact thing they wanted to do in life.
