Its a primordial instinct for women to look for masculine trait overcoming the odds to be with them because since birth these women have been given everything and treated like a princess, mostly by their fathers BUT when a man doesn't give them what they want, starting with the endless attention and resources from their fathers, they take this as an attack on their very existence because up to that point their existence was perceived as the center of the universe (if you tell a kid good job/you're so smart, once they average level surpasses their level that was slightly above average but was never actually special, they will become people pleaser because they learned to get their self satisfaction from external approval while women that get princess treatment from their fathers grow expecting that).
As a result they claim to hate men but what they hate is not being the center of the universe of men so they look for the traits they crave on men, strength, masculinity, drive and roughness that puts the princess, themselves, as the center of their universe.
If you notice in those couples its the tomboyish girl that has to win the princess over.
