What are your thoughts on Milton Knight's new cartoon, Cat and Mouse?

It honestly LOOKS better than most 'rubber hose wannabes' since THIS is the real shit right here. can we all throw our cash on this to make it succeed?

Now that I think of it. When was the last time we had a cartoon that had ACTUAL inks AND paints used with the assistance of digital scanning?

Milton Knight's "new cartoon" would be great if it got funded, there's just some huge elephants in the room. His pitch isn't gonna grab a lot of people because it isn't exciting. He needs to fucking sell people on it and grab their attention within 30 seconds to a minute. He's also banking off his name alone. I had to go to and look for the kickstarter link because in his video description, the link is cut off. Also why didn't he use his channel with 17k subscribers? Is he locked out of it or something? the optimist in me wants it to succeed because the western animation diaspora is total dogshit right now
Anonymous No.151185177 [Report]
>>151184903
Honestly he probably just forgot the stuff to his account and fucked up the link because he's old. He posted a fix one in the comments but I doubt he has any help with this since the editing style and audio / video quality is the exact same as the old Kickstarter pitch he has on his KS page. I want it to actually go through but man I wish he did more advertising or people got the word out more.

>A midnight ramble was a segregation-era midnight showing of films for an African American audience, often in a cinema where, under Jim Crow laws they would never have been admitted at other times.[1][2] The films shown were often from among the over 500 films that were made between 1910 and 1950 in the United States with black producers, writers, actors and directors.[3] Film archivist Pearl Bowser said these films "were important to Black audiences because it provided them with images of themselves that they didn't see in the regular cinema".[4]

I can't really get a read on what the actual story for this animation is going be; "Tom and Jerry with sex" isn't really too descriptive. Seems interesting but also very niche and more a personal artistic exercise than something setting out to tell a specific story. How is the comic this animation is based on; Slug n' Ginger?

25k isn't a lot by indie animation standards, but I don't think it will get it. Milton Knight is a really good cartoonist so hopefully he is able to see the project through even if it doesn't get kickstarted.

Honestly I’d rather have cartoons that deal with actual trauma than ‘boo-hoo I hate adulting and paying rent’ which generally passes among most young animators today. In fact that’s one of the problems with modern writing in general, so many people who end up in the creative industry just do not have the interesting life experiences that old creatives had; they don’t even have to be tragic, just gone out into the world and explored it or done interesting jobs. Guys like Hemingway, Tolkien and Disney just had interesting life stories on their own.

Bitter is the perfect way to describe the guy. I used to follow him on Facebook when it was still a thing and he would always rant about stuff more popular than his own. I remember finally giving up on him when he started talking shit about Barks/Rosa. I love the guys work but he feels like the world owes him despite not having anything noteworthy under his belt for 30+ years.

Don't see how he could without crowdfunding. Studios don't really want to bother funding an ink and cel production when it has no future as a mass market product from an artist that frankly isn't that notable to anyone outside of comic autists.

I think he just needs to vent for a bit. And try again. And hire advertisers.

Most pro artists have too much of an ego that they think their name can attract the paying crowd. But that's not how kickstarters work for a lot of people.

Get fake followers and tweetbots if you have to.

I don't understand why he'd be upset about this. Is it because Robotnik isn't "his"? Because AoStH Robotnik might as well be a completely original character.
Is it because his only recognizable/lasting creation is from thirty years ago? I guess that would be pretty upsetting as a creative. My other guess involved AoStH being heavily associated with YTPs instead of people viewing the show from a cartoonist's perspective.
