Started browsing /co/ in 2009/10. I rarely check back in, but was wondering how many people have stuck around. I myself was somewhat raised on the weekly livestream and justin.tv, I don't think I would've ever encountered R. Crumb or alternative comics otherwise

2018 eternal newfag here. I don't really spend as much time on this site as I used to. Anything new that crops up on the watchlist usually fails to get my attention which sucks when the show in question is actually good. I've been rewatching a lot of media from my childhood or some the past decade.

/co/ used to be amazing, we had these great 'quest' threads. Made one with a mermaid once. I also remember when Pen Ward and Natasha Allegri showed up on /co/ and chatted or drew us stuff. fantastic days. everything was possible.

now /co/ is kinda garbage and I mainly just go to the weekly skribbl threads

Honestly just a few old webcomics I've kept up with like Gunnerkrigg Court while revisiting more "classic" cartoons like Teen Titans, Courage the Cowardly Dog, the original run of Samurai Jack, etc.

Bizarrely, positively. Having access to raw French comics and animations greatly helped me in learning French and a few connections I made her ended up blooming into friendships that have lasted well over a decade now.

Is what it is isn't it? I used to use this place as a way to find really obscure shit, now I almost just browse it out of habit. I don't feel like it's been a waste but lately I've felt like it's not been particularly worth my time either.

I think the only time a poster's actually gotten under my skin in all these years was that blueberry poster that posted infantile "wahhhhh feed me" posts at like 4 AM. I remember when this board was dominated by comics and the only cartoons that saw significant traction were the Spielberg cartoons, the DCAU, Avatar the Last Airbender since that was airing at the time, and otherwise a relatively random smattering of 90s output like Rocko and Ren and Stimpy. Also the idea of a board having a "day" and "night" differential which just doesn't seem to exist anymore.

I first came to /b/ somewhere around 2008-9. I posted something and some guy called me a fucking retard and to lurk moar. I probably made it to /co/ through /tg/ around 2013. I remember that "/co/ is love" was a big deal, that the /co/ board-tan (whose name I can't recall) was getting posted a lot, and that there was a lot of OC. Lot of SWAT Katz, too. I ended up reading Sandman via a recommendation of an anon here, and it's still my favorite comic/graphic novel of all time. The Foolkiller, too.
I was more of a fa/tg/uy and /v/irgin, though. /co/'s downbeat atmosphere chafed me a bit as a former /b/tard.

I just finished Crisis Zone (Megg Mogg and Owl) the other day; it was neat, but too bitterly cynical for me to say I actually liked it. Otherwise, I keep up on K6BD and Freefall, for my webcomics, and I haven't watched anything /co/ related for a while.

I regret not making better usage of my time to be more successful in life, but I don't mind how 4chan helped shape my personality. I know a lot of things about a lot of topics due to this place, and I don't get caught up in trends, social movements, or other instances of mass insanity, because I have over 15 years of experience in assuming everyone on the internet is full of shit.

I always liked how distinctive /co/'s board culture was, even if it wasn't my preferred space. It's also the only board other than /a/ to have ever thrown down with moot and won - Win'O Threads get overlooked these days, but that was a really big deal when it was going on.

Currently reading an old webcomic called powernap, the concept intrigued me, and I thought the art looked nice. Just finished Crisis zone (MMO) and enjoyed it a lot, with how absurd and nasty all the characters are. Planning to read beautiful darkness as some point as well, but I usually reread a lot of Nancy comics (Bushmiller) when I just want to be in a good. Some capeshit as well, especially Darwin cooke. I don't really watch a lot of modern cartoons, but I'm looking forward to Primal S3

I think /co/, in moderation, has been a nice experience, and I don't regret discovering this place, at least not entirely. Sometimes you can find really interesting threads talking about the history of a comic creator, the behind the scenes stuff and and analysis of cartooning and comic making, as well as some fun board culture events and lolz threads. Sometimes this place really does feel like a community, but a lot of the time it's just retards wanting to post bait and complain about petty shit they stole from twitter, or to coom to some FOTM bitch. A lot of threads on this board are literally the same threads we've had for years, and the lack of new exciting /co/ content doesn't help either. I think the main thing that turns me off from the board is the general hostility to /co/ media and artists in general a lot of anons have, like the crabs in a bucket mentality,

Been here since 2005, before the board. Came here at age 13 hopping off a Godzilla forum. Was cool when I noticed there was a comic/cartoon board in 2006,
Boy those years were desolate for cartoons. Part of the reason Avatar got as big as it did was that it was the only active cartoon at the time that a bunch of weeb teenagers could actually watch. Otherwise most of the discussion was largely older cartoons or ones that were ending. Remember, 06 was the year TT03 and JLU ended. By 07 the landscape was looking really dry. Comics were far more important than they are now and storytimes made a lot of otherwise overlooked comics popular here.
