For better or for worse, modern SpongeBob is probably THE most cartooniest cartoon being produced at the moment. And compare it to something like Owl House and Chibi-verse, which both just look like stiff, cheap crap by comparison.
Chibi-verse is extra embarrassing to see since you can tell it was made out of a bunch of corporate execs seeing everyone flock to anime. So as a response, they decide to puppet the corpses of all their cancelled shows with this cringe 2000s anime parody faces to go "here's your anime, fellow kids!"
