I like the episode "Clash" from Unlimited quite a lot because of the simple fact that they can still have a fight in a city, but the city has no one in it to reasonably explain how it is that they don't incur any causalities. Are there any comics where this sort of thing is a common occurrence? (Moving fights out of the location the villain would prefer to minimize civilian deaths/damage.)

It also makes sense because they're both still heroes so they can go all out as long as they stay away from the one area that has people since it's the opening ceremony of the city.

You're forgetting that this was before vidya was hugely popular and first person shooters and the like had made death, murder and casualties something, well, casual and 'normal.'

In the 1990s, the government (and moms) were still forcing broadcasters, even cable companies, to censor violence on TV. It's why early FoxMen, Marvel and the like also don't show death and destruction on civilians in live action.

Superman is the one character (besides speedsters I guess) who should be able to safely fight in a populated area due to having xray vision

in a merica is pretty common that big cities have business and factory areas were there's only buildings that stay empty at night. when people are done with their daily routine they go back to sleep in the suburbs leaving behind big ass ghost cities

the Sodam Yat vs Superboy Prime fight has a grotesque version of this where the fight ends up in a cemetery; technically free from killing the living but upraising a lot of corpses.

Captain Marvel. This was a few years before the change. He was also called Captain Marvel in Public Enemies
