He needs some underlings, characters who have similar kinds of powers as him, but nowhere near as strong that he commands. Individually they can't beat him, but as a group he can at least play with them.
He should send them out to new planets as scouts. If anyone from the planet can defeat one of them then that planet has earned Nyxiontus's attention (something you really don't want) and he pays them a personal visit to see if they can put up a fight, or have the potential to produce someone who can in the future.
So no less than three, no more than seven. That's how many direct powerful underlings he needs to fill the drawpile position as designated powerup jobbers.
He needs at least three big shot minions. Every space emperor has a Ginyu Force, or demon generals, or something.
Have them be different colors but still have the cosmic fabric/fire look. None of them should be green though, that edges in on Whisper.
A yellow one that has a miniature star behind his head where if you look at him from the front it always looks like he's standing in front of the sun. Or the star changes position depending on who is looking at him so it's always shining from behind him.
A giant red one that has multiple rings orbiting around him made up of flaming asteroids that he can move around at will and shape into different things or combine into bigger rocks. Or form into an army.
A blue-white one that looks crystalline and is always leaving an after image because he's constantly absorbing all energy from the space he occupies and as soon as he moves any energy from the space around him rushes in to fill the void he's creating. A constant mirage.
Cosmic stuff like that. All very powerful, all beings that mostly no one wants to deal with, all someone that the big three of the JC could take down if working together with the right conditions and set up.
