Not to get too off topic /x/ blog-posty but I watched F&C in a heavy psychosis where I saw myself as Simon descending from my own madness and slowly making a better path a reality for myself, even to the degree of seeing a wife I've never had and a father I never was in the final encounter with Golb and the Lich. How she turns him into another stepping block for Simon, and how Simon finds her in the abyss despite everything keeping them apart and bringing them together over the millenia. And this curse of them bouncing back and forth into and out of madness for each other, with her rejecting him anytime he's consumed simultaneously by madness, like magnets repelling and attracting each other as time ticks forward eternally. Strangely I never really saw myself as Fionna, moreso that her delusional magic world and the interactions within my own consciousness only assured me that what I was experiencing was real, and the finale with her universe being considered canon being a manifestation of my own consciousness looking within itself. I think what I've pulled from that experience is two things:

>the self is all there is, so the growing apathy and indifference and indulgence directly mirror my own fall into these items

I honestly don't think there's a single bad season of AT, Bubbline and the gum people storyline sucked but other than that I felt like it struck a good balance.

F&C is so, so much worse than AT at its worst. Literally nothing fucking happens ever. It feels like it was made by fujos who don't understand that even people who don't hate gays don't find them inherently fascinating.
