'instant-kill' techniques are common in YGO, because the game is made around having answers (negates, protection, recovery, graveyard play etc); it feels dishonest to screech "NLF!" when death and revival are an intrinsic part of the verse, and if it's 'not fair' that should have been taken into account when you booked the fucking MU. You're taking a mundane concept from a universe that has evolved to deal with it, and introducing it to a foreign reality, of course it's going to be broken in comparison.

So, what can Ash do, now that he has gotten himself into a MU with someone with instant-kill techniques? There are answers, that should be able to no-sell something like Raigeki

This is just Death Battle going "ehhh, not going to incorporate that" because it turns out multi-target OHKO attacks without an accuracy malus are overpowered when an opposing setting isn't tailored to accommodate for them. Something that is balanced - or even WEAK - in Verse A, is imbalanced in Verse B, because there is no accessible response to it.

This is the equivalent of a guy with a black powder rifle going 'uh, you can't use that m16 actually', in a competition about KILLING the other person. Better yet, this is the equivalent of Smogon sending Garchomp to Ubers back in D/P/Pt, because every OU team HAD to have a response to it, otherwise, it would sweep - this is Death Battle stepping in, to make an unfair booking fair. I assume they would use both, though Yugi in the anime’s duel with Atem is a bit stronger since Atem’s deck had all three gods and he actually summoned them all, while in the manga Atem only slotted in Slifer and Obelisk and only actually summoned the latter, having discarded Slifer early on for a monster reborn strategy.
