why is she still called America CHAVEZ? doesn't Marvel know the implications of that cursed last name? chavizmo is a very horrible thing for latino america, it's literally a synonym of dictatorship. it's like if you made a character called John Hitler or Robert Bin Laden, it makes no sense she's till called Chavez in 2025, why not change it to America Paz, or America Libertad or America Flores? they are better last names.

chavez is not anywhere remotely close to that level of infamy, its like claiming that joseph joestar should be renamed so he wont be confused with joseph stalin

It’s a very common Latin American surname, top 20 in some countries like Bolivia. You don’t see any Hitlers running around today not because Europe has somehow managed to erase them, but because that surname didn’t even exist before Adolf’s father changed his surname from Schicklgruber to Hitler (inspired by his grandfather’s surname Hiedler). Meanwhile, there’s probably a million or three Chavezes in the world and they understandably see no reason to change their ancestral family name because of one asshole.
