Very simple. Peter, Felicia, and MJ get married. Peter has a job at a coffee shop. It last about a month before Felicia realizes she feels men are toxic and regrets ever being with them. She declares she's a lesbian, and dumps Peter, to date an overweight Jewish black girl with a septum piercing. MJ outright cheats on Peter the day after they get married with the first guy she meets and it's revealed she's pregnant with the other man's child, and the child is bonded to the Venom symbiote in the womb. She declares she never really loved him anyways. Both Felicia and MJ divorce Peter, and get alimony payments that Peter struggles to pay.

Peter loses his job at the coffee shop when he loses decisively in a fight to the All-New, All-Different Stilt-Man, who is now Paul Rabin. Aunt May gets mad at Peter because he was supposed to show up to dinner but didn't. This is renewed for a 75 issue run.

Well they can't rely on Spidey as an IP forever. Any form of media if it wants to lasts needs change and that change has to be satisfying enough to maintain interest. Sticking with Peter long enough will lead to the same shit getting tiring. You say people need to cycle out like how DC thought it worked in the 50's and 60's. It did work like that back then mostly. Now comic book superheroes itself does not have that luxury. So they are stuck in the mindset that they can achieve some middle ground when that doesn't exist. Look at their sales. It is mostly adults realistically. This is an oldfag hobby unless new people jump in and write new ideas that interest younger people. They have 0 investment because they are young and didn't read when it started. So yeah the nost sensible thing would be Mayday taking over and reintroducing old readers while introducing new readers to Spider-stuff. That's what Marvel fails to understand alongside DC. There are not enough oldfags and new readers won't care if they are not introduced to something new and exciting or immediately eyecatching. And their ideas of new and exciting are not fundamental change that also threads the needle by not altering the IP signifcantly.
So yeah, slow painful death or quick burning death are what they see as options when that quick burning death could revitalize themselves. But they don't carw about long-term and you don't either. Go read Miles and his foul and boring book.

That or MJ, Cat, and Spidey get stranded in the savage land and they have to survive together and that's where the threesome starts because of isolation. Maybe Cat is on a trip with MJ and Peter or runs into them and steals something, a crook finds her on an airfield with the plane that they are borrowing from some other character and is trying to get the stolen good back and the battle causes fuel to leak out and they crash in the Savage Land. I guess Sable is there because of political stuff and maybe corporate espionage. Like maybe she hears about some new Oscorp, AIM, etc. weapons and maybe Taskmaster is there too. Sable should probably become more acquainted with SHIELD and like train good guys like how Taskmaster trains crooks. Kinda surprised they haven't had at least a story together. At least I haven't seen it posted here. Sable really likes Spidey because of his nobility but also the power and speed he has. Less so on the jokes. But maybe she finds groping him to be funny and his naivete when it comes to women being attracted to him. Same with how MJ's famous kiss line, "I call you tiger...cause you're not!" shows some grey area in Peter's appeal. Like they can see Peter can improve and he is willing. Sable probably wants Peter to learn martial arts and you bet Sable, Felicia, and MJ all wrestle with Peter.
Another idea? You know during The Final Chapter! when Peter fights Ock's minions and he punches wildly until he realizes he got all of them? Peter would definitely grope wildly in all directions until the three of them are on the ground panting and sweaty. Sable probably likes web bondage alongside MJ and Felicia but I bet she's strong enough to tear it a little and escape. In the process her clothes rip.
