To be fair, I don't think people would hate furries as much if they didn't try to force themselves into places they're very clearly not wanted. It's like a chess club, and someone comes in trying to play checkers. You tell them 'hey, this is a chess club, can you please stop posting checkers here?' and they go 'But they both use the same board! And there's a ton of crossover between the two of them!' and they continually insist on it, well after you told them to please just play chess because their autistic brains can't fathom why someone playing on, what's to them a checkers board, wouldn't like checkers. Surely they must just be checkers players in denial.
Eventually the chess players get really sick and annoyed by the checkers players, to the point where they demonize checkers players because they always shit up their club.
Unless it's Japanese checkers, but that's a totally different game.
