Hypnosis/mind control also doesn't have amazingly great art quality, I'll be the first to admit.
I'll also put this forward as something I dislike though, or that annoys me even though I know its no one's fault.
I'll be honest, western-style hypnosis that english-speaking communities tends to focus on, to me, is incredibly one-note, boring or off-putting, rarely though they come out with something good. English-speaking communities that talk about stuff that originates in Japan (outside of Pokemon, I guess) are near non-existent outside of e/xhentai and specific 4chan threads.
Example, I don't think I've ever seen someone talk about Henkoraodora in english, I don't think I've really seen specific discussion about any mind control in japanese offfical works, hell I barely see much talk about big Japanese games/anime that have the tropes stuff in them when it comes to English-speaking communities.
The reality is that even on /d/, these threads don't really discuss more "out there" hypnosis/mind control stuff and they stick to the kaa-eyes, they stick to the pendulum, they stick usually to Pokemon, post western art, talk about IRL hypnosis, etc. Again, not /d/'s fault when you realize most people are english speakers who use english social media and don't see Japanese art outside of boorus and doujinshi. And Doujinshi that go more obscure simply can't support their artists, aren't worth it, or they're not scanned.
