Sadly I don't have fics to share because I'm not writing stories but basically writing a place for my OCs to live where they can make sense. I really like making OCs and think it's really fun to do, and I also think making a world and system where anything I want to happen can happen, so in doing so it innately made sense to me to make a world where something like getting eaten alive could become something where choice matters, and all by itself it isn't the mark of aggression or not or a good or bad person.
Just like a lot of races and backgrounds or personalities and so on may or may not result in good or bad people, I wanted the act of being able to swallow others to be something from which judgement could not be inferred all by itself. A boxer, or on the more extreme end a soldier is a guy who fights for a living but that choice of profession and capacity for violence or vice versa isn't what makes you a good or bad person.

I like it when one character is monstrously powerful but kind and gentle of course, or highly possessive of another, and so inclined to gobble up others so they can't lose ahold of them.

I also rather like the symbiosis you mention. I have on occasion had ideas along those lines of preds with intimate relationships with others whom they swallow and can become somewhat empowered by. This also works really well for the rare nonfatal mass vore scenario, e.g. a character can become more and more powerful by combining their life with those of however many others are inside of their body. As much as I dislike Cell as a character he's a good example of this.

On the more negative side, some ideas I have had are more around the lines of full assimilation than symbosis per-se, but this also has the potential to be positive, e.g. deliberately choosing to be fused to a being who cares about you. In the negative instance, of course, being assimilated by such a being basically reduces you to a simple if still sapient part of it, but of course it's in charge and you aren't, while on the positive side this would ideally be something done with both sides' consent, which is quite rare and IMO pretty severely underrated.

Suffice to say nonfatal vore mass fusion is really niche but I do like the idea
