"Ruffle" is a thing I've encountered on Armor Games, a simple/dopey game website which was largely based on flash in the past. I don't know much about the technical details but they managed to port everything over to html5 or whatever it is, and it still generally works. They went out of their way to assure visitors that their stuff would still work following the death of Flash, and it's clearly still a viable website.
