In general I think "the scene" is just out of ideas because with the introduction of Patreon, Fanbox, etc. it's all become about doing whatever will get you money. Unfortunately this doesn't mean attempting to make a story with characters and whatnot but often times just means making a sequence or 2-4 page comic that has no story, where characters have no personality and are virtual dolls being posed and dressed up. Often times this also means using some FotM shit from whatever the big video game, anime or chink gacha is or just reusing the same Pokemon and Shonen Jump characters from 15 years ago.

Stuff like Ellie Skinsuit/Imp's stuff in general stands out not necessarily because it's good but because by being a comic with an actual story, actual characters and length it's something that's becoming increasingly rare when that used to just be the standard. TSFSingularity is just the biggest example of a problem that's infested the TSF genre in general over the last few years.

Does anyone know why Maybe-soft stopped making games after making "Change! ~Anoko ni Natte Kunkun Peropero~" in 2014? Did that game bomb so much it killed the company? Possession is just such an insanely OP power that its difficult to write a longform story while keeping the essence of it. You end up having to put restrictions in, but then either you end up having to write a lot of boring details to justify the possessor pulling off impersonation successfully, or you end up with loads of plot holes as to why he doesn't just possess his way to no-selling every problem. Some needed secondary powers like memory alteration or fogging are especially crazy. When it comes to heavy social settings it can narratively be on the level of reality warping.

nta but i think the way the original destroy all humans 2 handled possession especially in the busy San Francisco type level is the closets to a good possession sandbox game. it has the good balance you mention. bodies burn out after some time so if you really want to keep a specific body for longer you need to de-possess them and hypnotize them. On top of everything being exposed reinforce the importance of the idea of remaining undetected. If you get hit by a car you literally roll out of the humans body, if you vessel burns out you slip out of them, etc. Everyone around you who sees your true forms runs and freaks out. Humans will even run to phones to alert authorities which turns your next immediate action into survivable or needing to hid. I think a game that understands that your a foreign entity that can not be exposed would be the way to go. You need a huge oppositional force that keeps you check which in turn will make getting a new body satisfying. Being discovered by authorities and being taken out would be the perfect even increasing oppositional force in my mind. Not to mention the idea of status in our society inherently provides difficulties yo pursuing certain targets. Like celebrities you could see in advertisment and in universe media in a game, but teacking them down would be impossible unless you actively pursued them. I could see a subtle system that has you interacting with in game social media to figure out where they are going to be next and figuring out their schedule and such. Yet that wouldn't be where it ends

I've tried it with Deep Realms by creating my own worlds. Works pretty well as long as the world text you start with sets things up properly. The trick is that you have to be descriptive with everything, since the machine isn't gonna know what you mean or what you're picturing. So for example: "One day while you were bored in your room, [object] appears. This [object] allows you to [insert main thing the object does here]. It can also do [this thing], [this thing], and also [this thing]. What will you do?"

And you can go from there. I like to add a bit more like "You go [here] to test it out" to the world text because it saves credits. If it doesn't get the prompts completely right, you can edit what it spits out to correct things, and it'll follow your edits during the next prompt.

The images it makes alongside it can vary, but you can turn them off if you go to the world's settings and "edit mods". You can also go into the settings for that mod and change the aspect ratio or give it style instructions.

The adventures are AI, but i find that with a good prompt in your 'next segment' it has a decent creative output. You can always read the stories people post as well instead of interacting with AI.

Just had the funniest fucking experience on Outfox Stories.

Doing one of their Adventure things, specifically the 'Slime Isekai' one. Had managed to possess the goddess at the start while expelling her as a slime herself, and I wanted to kill her off to avoid the AI constantly trying to have her steal her body back.

The AI responds, and I am not making this up, "No. That is not how this story will go." in big bold letters, before shunting me back into my slime form, the goddess was suddenly back in her body, and she is pissed at me.

...Except I'm an actual writer (I just use these things for cheap wank material), so I just... erased that response and wrote out how I ACTUALLY wanted the scene to continue.

My favourite is either consensual possession. Like the Possession Ring, Orb of Possession, or Stealth Control stories on DeviantArt. (I love them because they mix up between possessor and being victim, without switching POV)
Or the others i like are those focused on the process of possession themself, where the victim struggles but becomes overwhelmed, especially if the possessor playfully taunts them.
Again, I don't like bad ends... Which makes content for this fetish even rarer.
A relatively unknown artist (e_glyde/april attaway) made a minute long animation called Movie Night. It is almost perfect in my eyes, i think they posted it on twitter. Naomin's bodysuit animations are also great.
