What do you think Purification means? People play fast and loose with the definition, somehow even more than corruption which is already bad. There's stuff where purification just means a character increasing in "moral" behavior, like kindness or chastity, and there's stuff where the emphasis is about holy magic, characters turning into angels, nuns, magical girls, and the like. There's a lot of overlap, but I think only the latter is the defining part of purification. There is a lot of stuff where a character does get "purified" but ends up acting sluttier or is enslaved by the one who purified her, which always feels wrong. Lots of stuff that's just princessification, stepfordization, or another ordinary role or faction change also gets tagged purification just because the character is "evil" in the source material too, and I can't stand that. You wouldn't tag something corruption because it shows a heroic character becoming a normal civilian.

I don't know. My thoughts are muddy on it. Post more examples of purification so I can figure this out.

It's the first one. Essentially, purification means a bad person or a traditionally bad entity becomes good IE A slutty lustful succubus becomes a reserved and wholesome priestess. But I think the second (excluding magical girls) is just the extreme end of that. Not that there's anything 'bad' about that. I think if we can go further then logically, a good person becomes greater (nun to paladin to angel)

I also believe in the niche variety of imperfect or 'failed' purification, related to >>11332988 where a transformed monster is cured of corruption and feral mentality, leaving the female only physically transformed and with little to no mental changes but I could expand on this with a new post.

I like this concept because I fucking LOVE the 'good demon' trope so much I write my own stories about them, TFs included.

Corruption as messy as it is so much better defined, it makes sense to define purification as the opposite of that. Corruption comes in puppy kicking and more tame just confident and sexy varieties, the common trait is visual similarity. Feels a little off to reduce it to just a costume, but without latex, demon horns, or scary looking eyes, it's not corruption, it's just a character deciding to do villainous things or just mind control. The same should be true for purification. A character could decide on their own or be mind controlled to do heroic things, but without the "costume" of purity, it doesn't count.

I'd steal a cleaner definition from somewhere else, but nowhere seems to have one I find satisfying.

I think this is my absolute favorite by Katou Hayabusa. It still holds up to this day (just like most of his work).
