It's pretty simple on forge/reforge, you type [tag1:tag2:x], and you will gen using tag1 for the first x steps and then switch to tag2. You can use multiple tags before or after the colon, or no tags at all in either, and use 0.x to swap after x% of the inference steps.

Noob is "better" as in it allows more control on the style and concepts, but you gotta get used to it. The most basic step, is to always add any style lora at very low weight (around 0.2) as that will help stabilize the output and prevent color explosions. Also, not using any negative prompt at all will usually improve quality, and often quality tags are also better left out altogether. Something like wai is simpler to use, but it will default towards the shiny slop style even if you prompt artist tags and will have a harder time doing "weird" stuff as it is so heavily biased towards "aesthetic" proportions and 1girl standing. Something like 102d or ΣΙΗ is a better starting point since it's more stable than base noob, easier to use, but not as biased as 102d.

My two cents about NoobXL, Prompt adherence is very strong, detrimentally so sometimes. If you don't have some eyes prompt, there will be no eyes, cropped out of frame or covered. If you forgot to delete the anus tag, something will be contorted into showing an anus. So you need to define these, otherwise you will get shit. Use artist tags to influence style, without artist tags you will more often than not also get shit. You can definitely use loras or mixes to just controll the output to be more uniform and requiring less work on your front. But Base NoobXL imo, can do things no other mix can do. Also follow settings as described on the page.

Has anyone tried genning hypno-related content? Holding a pendulum, crude spirals in eyes or the background etc seem to the work *okay*, but anything more advanced than that seems beyond the limits of our current models. At the very least, it's too esoteric and complicated to be done without a lot of manual work guiding the thing.

Multidiffusion and other tiled workflows are vramlet cope. They allow you to reach much higher resolution since you will never crash on OOM, but it comes at the cost of speed. If you have the vram to gen in one go, or with only a bit of overflow into system memory, it's faster to do a regular hiresfix/img2img/inpaint and reduces the chance of seams.

If you inpaint first and then upscale, it might be fine or you might lose your fixes. Depends on how small a detail it is, vs how high your denoise is during the upscale.

If you inpaint a lower res and use the AI upscaling, you're likely to lose your inpainting fixes, even at a very low denoise. I personally try to find a medium place of decent resolution that still develops quickly. I try to keep my stuff in the 1920x1080 resolution/pixel density range and for the most part can generate an image in ~20-30 seconds on a 4070ti with 12GB VRAM. Best recommendation is to find the highest resolution you can work with efficiently to get your base image, then upscale and fix with inpainting

You're not wrong, the current limitations are more to do with lack of natural language processing (local is getting better, slowly at this) but apart from gemini/cloud-based models and Novel, hard to recommend something you can actually use. At least purely doing basic videogens and txt2img/vid. Even so I feel like they don't solve the problem. Hypno is one of those fetishes where conceptual understanding hits the wall of strict things that a model is trained on. Artist tag association that hypnosis artists have really hurt trying to get the basics of hypnosis out of the gens. If you like subtle stuff or non-pendulum, non-spiral hypnosis? Gotta work on negatives and find a decent seed/controlnet/img2img basis.

That said though through my experience the more "out there" you get the easier it is to slap "mind control" in the prompt somewhere with the right artist mix and just throw whichever descriptor tags in and you'll get something close. You won't need a LoRA unless its like the sort of Twitter/Pixiv/Fanbox hypnosis-specific fetish that only the Japanese like. Personally, I'm waiting for Wan2.2 to get a haigure lora for the certain model I actually use.

For manual inpainting yes. I guess for upscaling it could help too but it's been so long since I've changed my workflow to use a tile cnet for the upscale so I barely get any hallucinations caused by upscaling. I've just stuck to leaving my prompt the same for upscaling and face detailer because that's less nodes to juggle and the models I've been using the past few weeks are super inconsistent anyways. Also, I don't remember if ever tried that but you should give kohya deep shrink a try. Highres basegens are pretty neat and can help since you don't have to upscale that high in the last step.

I'm trying to go base img->send to inpaint with adjusted prompt->send inpainted to inpaint again with adjusted prompt, continue until sequence complete, but I'm noticing a very substantial change in styling between frames, especially from initial gen to first inpaint where it gets a lot chunkier. I'm using 75% denoise which may be part of the reason but it seems uncooperative in making the changes I want if I reduce it too low.

I did try it but from the little I tested it seems to have a worse style bias than the experimental one, which as far as I understand is because it was trained on a smaller dataset and that smaller dataset was also part of the original noob dataset so it trained the style bias into the quality tags
