It opens with “the back was made to work”
My back and neck eventually healed so I’m not in pain all the time, but it’s easily injured. It took years before my day-to-day was normal.
Walking a lot (e.g. to and from work) helped a lot.
(Instead of lying down all the time).
I’m now an inch shorter though.

>>2885509 (OP)OP even though this anon is probably joking around, after working on lift trucks for the past 17 years and only stopping for 2 years to drive a taxi just so I could see the outside world, but then returned because forklifting really is one of those "Remember, You're Here Forever" jobs even if you move up to rough terrain or get a CDL and start trucking....it's the same industry until you have your Matrix moment and realize that EVERYTHING is directly tied to moving things out of or into a thing so the thing can then be moved to another place where things get moved out of or into it.
With that said, I have horrifying back, neck, and shoulder pains....like DAMN. I've done everything and the only ONLY thing that alleviates it is sleeping on a good mattress. BUT! Easier said than done! I can't go to sleep if I'm in extreme pain, and even if I manage, the pain will just wake me up in 2 hours...So you're not going to like this, but M-Th I take 4g Kratom and then just drink until I pass out. In the morning I take 2g of Kratom for work and it lasts me like literally 8 hours where I'm pain free, but as soon as I get home I'm in pain again. Friday I tough through it and just live in pain all weekend long.
Coworker tells me to go see a chiropractor...but. Well, I just haven't.

I herniated a disk last April and I’m still recovering because it stopped my exercise which exacerbated problems in my core and legs which now feeds my back problems. I’m definitely improv but it’s also definitely taking time. I have a friend who works his ass off to pay for toys he dosent need and has no time/desire to do exercises. He’s on his second back surgery at 46. Don’t be that guy.

I drive a lift truck 12 hours a night….driving into a freezer and then backing out. Over and over and over again. Now recently if I turn my head too far to the right or left it feels like an electric bolt is shooting up my head from my C2 (or axis vertebrae). An old timer told me to cut all the junk food and eat a lot of fish and decent vegetables, and to not stress out on my off time…and I’m noticing a significant difference. When I say “old timer” I mean “OLD TIMER” because he’s like 79 and I’m 42 but he looks like he’s a really really tired 50. The dude eats like no junk food, doesn’t drink or smoke, and told me that when he’s not working he’s either sleeping or watching movies or anything that makes him relax. He like doesn’t stress about anything ANYTHING at all.
I want to be more like him. Just wanted to share that.

4 years ago I fell from a horse and the blow was so bad that I herniated a disc.
Constant pain for months. I never took medication, but sleeping on the hard floor without a pillow (or a very small one) helped me a lot. I woke up every day practically without pain... however the pain was increasing throughout the day.
Now, 4 years later, I don't feel pain, just discomfort. And when I walk, when I take a step with my right leg, my spine cracks haha
But the pain is minimal compared to what it was. I can live as if it never happened.

>>2889359Kratom is great. My state wants to ban it because some druggie OD with 10 other drugs in his system. I use it for my tendonitis and back pain. I went to a chiropractor a few months ago. It definitely did something but it wasn't like an instant fix.
>>2890176>Kratom is greatWhoa Whoa! I'm the anon that posted the Kratom recommendation on Thursday. I under no circumstances meant to suggest it to be a "FIX" for a serious back problem like a herniated disc in your spine, or any other pain for that matter. At least not in the long term. I just meant to say that it could be a quick hack job until you find a job that's less labor intensive on your back. See a doctor and do it right.
There's several problems with Kratom
>It IS addictingDon't listen to the redditors that claim that they've been on it for years with no problem. It's an opioid; you WILL build a tolerance to it and need more and more. People that say it's not are just vendors shilling their product.
>You don't know what you're actually gettingThere's so many people taking this shit that I find hard to believe that they can get this stuff to your front door in 2 days without them cutting it with something. Supply is low and demand is high. Even if they cut it with dirt...or green tea, eventually some lead is going to get in there (to increase the weight).
>You're going to hurt yourself furtherThat's like pain killer 101. If the pain goes away but the root problem isn't solved then you're going to move in ways that you wouldn't move if the pain was there, which will make the problem worse, and then you'll have more pain when you stop taking it.
The "DIY" for this problem is to literally go see a doctor and see if physical therapy or changes to your diet, weight, lifestyle, and even work might mitigate the problem. I work with a guy in his 80s and he just lives with the pain....like he tells me he'd miss it if it was gone. Everybody's different, and that's why you need to get specialized attention.
Sadly when it comes to pain management, you really do have to go to the dealership and pay for OEM parts...best wishes bro.

>>2885509 (OP)Backs only get worse but there are MANY DIY ways to do DIY shit with a very bad back.
Don't lift heavy things by hand any more. That's the (faster) road to life-ruining chronic pain so intense it prevents sleep.
Do study (not glance at, study) subjects like rigging, manual, electric and other winches (to pull, lift and drag), and ways to make your tools and equipment (if OP doesn't have same others here do and all WILL eventually have a bad back).
Air bag jacks are glorious. I rarely use my heavy floor jack. A very cool DIY project is making an air bag jack from a big truck air bag. I use mine to place shipping containers for my shops and the small commercial Vevor 3-ton for typical jack shit. (Any smol compressor will do but I also use CO2 cylinders I keep for MIG welding and doing "power tank" stuff with tires.)
If you own a pickup truck you use for truck stuff, get a used liftgate which are simple to install (manufacturers sell bed adapters reasonably, or fab those if you weld) along with overload rear springs and boosters if you run a pickup. I use Hellwig leaves and Timbren urethanes.
OP can either force xirself to change how they work or end in misery.

Yes. I also had a herniated disc. I started using the "petition" system of chiropractic and it saved my spine. No more bulged disc. I also stretch once or twice a week and i get a massage every month.
You can fix the problem.

I have a herniated L4/l5, do this video 4-5x a week. It saved my life. Get Flexeril for yourself while symptoms are presenting, but keep stretching to get off it.
Also, do planks.

apparently i have/had multiple herniated discs, L3,4,5 or something idk and inflamed facets, degenerated tissue ect.
i didnt even notice any of that lmaooo
i found that all out last week via mrt; got a year of physio therapy approved yesterday, 2 times per week
this week ill make an appointment and look out for a good therapist.
my doc told me that if you wanna fix this, you do physio/gymnastics everyday for atleast 30mins, better 1hr. (he does it 1 hour in the morning)
strengthening exercises, stretching exrecises and maintaining excrescics.
swimming 2 times per week.
NOT lifting anything above 5 kilo
NOT sitting for more than 30 mins at a time (30mins sitting, 30 mins standing)
sitting IS P O I S ON

theres no way to DIY unfortunately, at least without risks. a physiotherapy specialist is rather important, because he/she will EXACTLY show and "feel" you how to do the excrecises, so you LEARN to do them PROPERLY and not damage you FURTHER. also you can ask questions

Do this as many times a week as you can until you feel better. And keep doing it.
I have a herniated L4/5 and it's the only thing that cured me. Flexeril is definitely helpful but you don't want to be on that shit for more than a few days. I still need it every now and again.
Other options are alcoholism and pain killers, I did that too, curing the cause of your pain is better.

I had terrible sciatica for about 10 years after a snowboarding injury, eventually it went away and I'm sorry but I don't know why. Walking, a good mattress, weight reduction and yoga/stretching maybe helped who knows.
But OP try this: get hold of CBD oil, and some DMSO. Mix them together (with clean hands) and rub where it hurts. But when other problems develop I am generally able to lay on my stomach, lightly poke two of these up and down until I find the area of extreme fuck, and then push these incredibly painful pinlike points into that area in a way that the whole surrounding muscle groups/bone is repulsed by the pure hypersensitivity of it and it has no where to go but back into correct alignment. I have solved at least 3 debilitating back problems with these and they never returned.
