>>2926108It isn't. My weed whacker, lawn mower, and leaf blower have never had their carbs removed or cleaned and they're going on year 8. I use 10% ethanol (regular 86 octane) fuel except when I put them away for storage.
1.Push fuel button 10 times or more. It doesn't matter and the machine isn't counting.
2. Full choke, hold the throttle wide open and pull like an adult man. You want crankshaft speed to suck fuel into the engine past the carb. This should only take 2-4 pulls before you hear/feel the engine almost try to start.
3. Half choke, open throttle, pull like a MAN again. When it turns over let it rev up a little but release throttle and let it idle for a few seconds, you may begin working.
4. After about 45 seconds (the machine doesn't know) it should be warm enough to turn the choke off.
Most pull start engines don't start people people don't pull with actual speed. They pull like they're gooning at hour 14 in an effort to reach the goal but never actually starting the engine.
I don't even do special maintenance; run it dry at the end of the season, put ethanol free fuel (with oil mix) in the tank. Start it for about a minute, clear out the lines of any ethanol fuel, top up the tank so theres as little air as possible. Leave the piston at TDC (some use preservation oil at this step too), air blow out the air filter, check the spark plug and maybe use a steel brush on it. Thats the secrets to all small engines.
