I think that is real wood underneath, but the strip coming off is plastic or vinyl. And if it needs a long time to cure, how could I apply horizontal pressure on it?

I hope you respond to this response.

Im not a carpenter, but when I ripped off some trim from my cabinets I did some digging on what to adhear it back with. I ended up going with liquid nail at Homedepot, shouldnt need a lot on there, maybe youtube something like "liquid nail on trim".

Use CA glue, it dries in seconds. I think liquid nails may be CA glue but not sure because home depot doesnโ€™t let europeans on their website

Responding! I've heard other people say not to liquid nails- "Don't use a mastic like liquid nails. That's a terrible idea. A few dabs of caulk and then press the board in is not ideal, but better than putting a fucking rock behind that veneer"

pic related

The brand is not important as long as it is contact cement

>real wood underneath, but the strip coming off is plastic or vinyl

Contact cement is used to apply laminate to wood countertops - this is what it's made for

>if it needs a long time to cure, how could I apply horizontal pressure on it?

keep the parts separated from each other and apply cement to each side.
wait a few minutes until each side is completely dry
press the parts together and they bond instantly
