Can I waterproof my phone using clear epoxy resin? I was thinking about completely coating it in a thin layer of epoxy to make it water-resistant, mainly for rain and accidental splashes. Has anyone ever tried this kind of DIY hack before? Would the phone still be functional, or would it overheat and get ruined? Looking for advice before I do something dumb.

Just fill all the holes with dielectric grease. Especially the charge port, sim tray, around the buttons, and the headphone jack if you have one. But I’m not sure if the speakers and microphone will be functional if you do that to them too, let alone seal them in with epoxy. Chances are you’re fucked, just buy a rugged phone next time.

Even going back to an iphone 7, it had an IP67 rating, making it safe to submerge in 1m of water for 30 minutes. Newer iphones are like 6m for 30 minutes.

Even a dollar store smartphone will be water-resistant for rain and splashes.
