Hi /diy/ I'm considering building on some property between and two rows of these, its about 10 acres and id try to place the house right in between about 100 yards from each. I'm wondering if i have any concern as i know some of the emf from these has been said to cause leukemia or be carcinogenic? Any advice? would like to raise some animals and the pasture underneath them would be good for grazing while living in the area in between those two pastures covered by these lines. I have small children that are always outside, just want them to be safe.

>i know it has beed said
>leukemia
>cancer
and you have reproduced it seems. what a fucking sad story. I would suggest the usual treatment, but raise the kids first, there still might be a chance for them.

There are a number of reasons you would want to stay away from overhead high-voltage lines, but in western civilization it is regulated well beyond safety limits. So as long as you follow rules and the law, they can only cause visual or auditory annoyance.

Also it's a stupid question belonging to a stupid question thread. sage

If you'd like to reduce EMF exposure while prioritizing longevity (however reducing repair-ability), I'd recommend placing the cable underground, in weather protected cable housing. Or you can retardmaxx and put the cable on huge expensive towers and notify the government that you're violating (arbitrary legal code 1.09182 [sec. c])

>some of the emf from these has been said to cause leukemia or be carcinogenic?
imo it's bullshit. for the leukemia they basically got a population of people that live near powerlines and went through every single possible disease until they found one that was over represented and even then it was only slightly, which is bound to happen just by random chance, and even if it wasn't random chance it really wouldn't shock me if leukemia rates were higher in the places where there tend to be more powerlines but just because those places are industrialised cities
as for the cancer that comes from the IARC which pretty much considers everything that exists a possible carcinogen. some highlights from the same category as low frequency EM are
>aloe vera
>coffee
>pickled vegetables
>being a carpenter
>a whole bunch of other shit that occurs naturally in a bunch of fruits and vegetables
if you're still concerned about it, 100 yards distance should be enough that the EM radiation is completely undetectable anyway, even for ultra high voltage long distance lines

Yeah, as a scientist, i find it unlikely that it’s going to cause any harm.

One if the most interesting theories was that the 60 Hz “spins” the molecules out of the cellular sodium pumps the “wrong way” and that … yada yada yada… leads to a horrible early death.
> oh yeah, it’s not always 60 Hz on power lines
> oh yeah, a lot of high tension lines are DC
They’re grasping at straws here, much like the talcum powder in the panties debacle.

i wouldn't, ventilation would make it difficult to keep a home warm, nail plates will have the potential to created plasma. that plasma can change, erode many different materials atomizing and aerosolizing them.
i assume you'd get all the health problems of pica without the mental illness diagnoses, so not that bad do it.

There’s lawsuits that claim that, johnson & johnson forced ladies to sprinkle talcum powder in their panties for decades (so far as they recall, anyway), and their vag pulled in the talc powder (which may or may not have had asbestos in it) all the way into their ovaries (like a vacuum, although usually stuff goes out, not in) and caused the equivalent of mesothelioma (where there is no lung tissue) resulting in ovarian cancer.

Seemed implausible.
