I have a flux core welder, I've gotten pretty good at it but it's a cheapy one that's AC so there is a ton of splatter, but I welded and it helded.

I would like to get a proper MIG welder or TIG, but my work area is not insulated. I also live in a region where it gets really cold in winter and decently warm in the summer. The past few years, it's gotten well below zero in winter and had weeks of 100+ days.

I am concerned if I go to MIG or TIG, the temperature in my work area could damage the argon tank used for shielding gas. Am I just being paranoid?

I've hard my argon tanks in an uninsulated garage that goes 0-30C over the year and it hasn't exploded. Also I'm pretty sure there are people storing argon anywhere from -20 to +60C and they're still not dying. Also when you go buy argon, they usually don't fill up the exact same tank but swap it for one that's already full.

I'm more worried about damage to the seals over time than the tank exploding.

when i got into gas welding i bought a bottle second hand and it was 12 years old since it was last "tested" no problems. also remember when you put your regulator on it you can shut that off too(i dont) but you have two closed valves. you could purge the gas in the line and if the bottle valve leaked you would see the pressure in the regulator
