How many power banks do you have?
Recently bought this Bluetti, plus I got 2 other cheaper no-name ones and a third that was dirt cheap on woot coming this week.

Before I bought the Bluetti I bought this inverter. The battery is from an old e-bike project from 2012 I never finished. The 960 Wh battery can be plugged into the AC70 (768 Wh) or just ran directly from the inverter. I wouldn't have bought the 48v inverter had I known I was going to get the Bluetti. Here is a pic of all of it.

Here is the woot order. The watt hours is a little more powerful than the one on the right in my pic above. The one on the left is like 100 Wh. Plus the Ryobi inverter. I would like one of these that can do the 40v batteries also.

Here is a pic of the battery/inverter running my fridge. When the fridge was running it used about 150 watts. The fridge light oddly enough used over 30 watts itself!

I ordered 8 gauge for the Anderson 50 amp connectors.

I've got two Ecoflow River 3 Plus 270s. One of them died completely within a week of purchase. Still dealing with the warranty folks now.

The one that still works has already made it through several power outages and kept my server running through them. The <10ms UPS switchover is why I chose them to replace my old lead acid UPSs.

If buying an Ecoflow, their occasional TikTok lives actually have decent deals. The TikTok River 3 Plus is slightly neutered (268wh vs 286wh), but for $170 I don't really care.

I have one for my pc and a second one for my tv / xbox. Always helpful. I think most of them are still lead acid oddly enough.

Reason I started buying all mine is because I had a 2.5 day power outage last month. My cheap chinese power bank was able to run my 30 watt Thinkpad for around 8 hours. Enough to keep me entertained watching Legend of Galactic Heroes. Bought a dc charger for it, so next time I won't have inverter losses. Sucks dealing with warranties. You are right there are so many power banks now, that every other week one of them is going on sale.

Yeah probably and that's a good thing. I'd switch to lipo but it can't really handle the current of a PC going blast.

My method is just about quickly saving and shutting down. Plus it is just better for the PC to have stable power and to shut down properly. Many times it helps with those quick power spikes and brown outs. But yeah most aren't going to ruin no full power rtx 5090 or close by equivalent.

This but it's mainly for keeping internet alive for a while, I shut down the PC during power outage because it drains the battery much faster than modem/router alone.
Once that drops I'm boned since I can't get a strong enough phone signal at home to use mobile data, just make calls.

Well I assume you have a deep freezer if you are white, which goes along with having flashlights. So you want to run your main fridge for 12 to 24 hours, plus your deep freezer for a few days. You also want to run your router to keep your kids and wife devices working. May need a portable starlink here and the power to run that. I think you need a generator (for longer outages) and at least 3 large (router/backup, fridge, deep freezer) and 2 small power banks (phones, tablets). Plus another medium one if you go starlink portable. You can have less, like if you could move food to the deep freezer and just eat what is left. But clearly you need a lot.

2kwh x3 for deep freeze / fridge / router plus misc
350 wh * 2 for phones / tablets / laptop / misc
1kwh for starlink mini

Close to 2kwh per person (4 people) plus a generator / some solar.

8kWh is going to set me back about $3,500. But why do I need these at all if I have a generator?

At that point instead of buying stupid gimmicky systems you might well get whole house solar backup.

Basically the idea is that if you go server rack batteries and solar you first are going to spend a lot more money up front versus buying power banks slowly on sales. There have been some good solar battery deals lately if you check slickdeals if you decide that. Another thing is you are going to need an even bigger system cause the family is going to treat it like you still have power. Where they can see I only have so much power in the power bank with that option.

For shorter power outages a generator running the fridge is fine. The problem is longer outages. Most generators use a lot of gas. You can pay more for a Honda which will use less fuel, but you are still going to need to keep at least 25 gallons on hand. Rotating containers. Also keep in mind a large outage means long lines at the gas station assuming it has power.

Lastly even having a generator it is still more efficient running it for four hours to charge your power banks than all day running a fridge that may only cycle 1/4 the time.

Managed to snag a 220 watt portable solar panel. An actual renogy panel on aliexpress for cheap. YouTube reviews show it getting 80% of that number in the sun. Which is very good for this price.

It is light weight, folds and has a carrying case. No one is getting a new 400 watt solar panel for $60. Lastly a Renegy portable solar panel like this is normally over $300.

I am getting a new 400W solar panel for $60, in fact I can even choose which one I want. $60 is the normal price for 400W solar panels unless you're getting orange man tariff'd, and even with tariffs, it shouldn't be more than $80 or so.
>Lastly a Renegy portable solar panel like this is normally over $300
That just means that they're selling it with a bare minimum 200% margin.
