Tourist here. I have never done a single DIY thing in my life, but I have it in mind to start soon. One project that has been of interest to me is a homemade waterfall, but all the ones I've come across in YT videos are reminiscent of gentle streams, while I have in mind one that is raging over a steep shear.
Basically, one like in this video, minus it doubling as an aquarium and the lights.

Unfortunately, the guy in the video speaks in some Indian language, so I can't even understand what he's saying. How'd you go about building something like this?

weir water equations. piano keys should give you a larger flow, but some of that white water is from air resistance and coastal eddie equations.
A toilet bell siphon will let you accumulate a large amount of water before letting it go drastically reducing pump size, if your good it will work like clockwork.
it is math beyond me good luck, ohh and erosion can happen below the water surface them bubbles will chew through diamond.

Lol, all the terminology you used flew right over my head, but I'll figure it out as I go along. Thanks for your insight.

Sounds bad. What are the long-term consequences of that? Will maintenance of such a layout be a nightmare?

Water make big hole in stone at bottom. If you were to actually build it out of hard natural stone it’s not a big problem. But if use sand or clay or concrete it will collapse in no time, people use rocks with the joints sealed with ‘waterfall foam’.

> piano key
Google piano key weir

You need air in the water to get the foam/white water effect. The real waterfall gets it because the water is very turbulent and needs to fly so far. To get the same effect with a smaller one you may need to put the air in artificially, the Indian guy probably puts compressed air from the tanks into it.
