I hate these so much. The keys collapse and the thing starts activating on it's own.
I wonder if there is a way to replace it with something beefy that won't break.

They work fine, just stop punching your microwave or buy a better brand. Don't ask for improvement on a microwave or we'll start getting ones that can't be used until you sign up for some account after scanning a qrcode and installing an app on your phone. The shit that has infested just about every other appliance now.

They are shit, if a lead breaks it's conductive paint on plastic, unfixable. I almost had to throw the micrawave away because this shit failed and the repair shops are all retarded cucks.

>first one is next to my house
>walk over with the microwave
>we won't fix it because it has rust in the chamber and we deem it unsafe

>second one only works with another brand
>third one didn't have the panel because old model

Tiny electronics store saved the day, i just bought the thing and replaced it. I think i'm gonna buy an extra one just in case they stop fucking making the thing.
And what kind of bitch are you? Here in DIY nagging people for wondering if there is a way to fix and improve something yourself.

Anon, you're getting mad for breaking your microwave probably again. It sounds like a you problem especially so if you can't take a couple of screws out and swap the keypad. I've had my microwave for twenty years and it still works perfect with nothing beyond some light cleaning .

Wash your hands and cut your fingernails more than once a month and it will last longer.

Trace where the buttons go with a multimeter, then solder actual buttons to those points on the board.. Any momentary switch should work, since all they do is bridge two points.

Good approach. That's probably what I'd do if I had a source for replacement panels.

I have resigned myself to making e-waste when these go bad.
I think they are a solution to wet environment controls witch for a high voltage microwave is probably a good thing.

You can't solder them, it's metallic paint on plastic.
It has to be possible to solder wires to the connector inside the number of pins on the connector is small so the keypad makes some sort of combination for each key, i don't know how since the pad has no electronics, only traces and buttons.

i don't know about that

Nah, it's just cost cutting. There are good designs for waterproof buttons and there are the shit designs with cheap thin plastic that cracks from heat and material stress and then isn't waterproof anymore.

Aren't these carbon pads like the ones in tv remotes, just with air instead of rubber? You could cut one piece from an old remote and use it instead of the original.
You could even solder a switch to the traces behind the broken pad.
