This is my new shed. Ideally I don't want to spend a fortune on more concrete. What are some cost effective options to reduce the sand coming inside the shed? We're entering winter, so getting a bunch of grass to grow isn't going to happen soon.

It's coming in from being tracked in by feet and tires?

landscaping fabric

Yes
Probably not doing a big rug lol
Landscaping fabric ideal
Gravel is a good one, considering there's no driveway to the shed, I had planned on eventually doing it.

I have considered pavers, but I think they would very quickly get covered in sand, leading to my conundrum of tracking it inside again

you'd have the exact same issue if you put a pad down. sounds like you just need to sweep your shed more often

At least pour a small slab in front of the walk in door and the garage door. You can always expand the exterior concrete at a later date. Put a metal grate in front of the walk in door to scrape off your boots and maybe a boot brush as well.

You either spend money on this or you spend time sweeping, but you aren't gonna get away without sweeping, so get some good brooms. I like them corn brooms and a big, long bristled push broom. The best brooms, however, are those asian style long bristle fan brooms. Those shits are *the* best broom for moving material across the floor without kicking up dust. They just suck at filling a dust pan. A high quality commercial door mat on the inside will do a ton of work for you. They're made so absolutely every little thing gets stuck in them. Even better if you have one inside and outside. You definitely get what you pay for with these. A little concrete pad that you put in is gonna be cheap as fuck. Pavers cheaper. Probably cheaper than a good door mat, too. You just need something to hold a mat steady and flat right outside the door. Some gravel surrounding a pad of some kind will help even more, you could even embed cedar pickets in the ground on the perimeter to hold the gravel together.

Those grate things you put grass in and can drive on, not sure what theyโ€™re called in English. Even if they donโ€™t grow grass the sand gets compacted in the holes and stops moving. Burying an old drain grate works as well

Gravel, but you should do gravel retaining grid with it.
Unbelievably superior to just tossing down some gravel.

Just get an electric leaf blower, one of those welcome mats for cleaning shoes(with the hard bristles) and a baseball bat so whenever someone doesn't use the mat you can beat them to death.

yo, a concrete apron around the building reduces both root lift and water infiltration. You could dig a moat and build a bridge.

He's referring to the stone foundation thread where anon said,
>On a long enough timeline everything behaves like liquid
This means the rats, who are good swimmers, will be able to swim through the concrete apron, given enough time.

A couple pavers a pair of floor mats both outside and inside. The sand is stuck to your shoe and relased when you step on the mats.

dig out the sandy area, lay some blocks for a border, throw down pickerel and fill it with gravel
