We have a large, heavy fence door, which recently came off of it's hinges (bullet hinges, specifically). Namely, the pins inside broke in two. Would it be possible to purchase and install new pins separately, or do the entire hinges need to be repaired?

The door: Dimensions are 4'*6''*6'7''
Width is unknown, but it's very heavy. We didn't build it.

There are two Bullet Hinges that were holding the door up, both of which have snapped in half-or at least, the internal pin snapped.

I'm wondering if it would be possible to remove the broken pins using some kind of removal/extraction kit, purchase new bullet hinges, remove the pins from the new bullet hinges, and replace the old pins, or if this is impossible, in which case we would get a welder to fully replace the hinges.

I'm also curious if the hinges were too small/too few for this size of door (in which case I don't understand the design of the door), or if the only issue was we weren't greasing them.

yes they snapped because you weren't greasing them

dumb design for a gate though, I'd just replace it instead of fucking around with the hinges

If you're good with tools you could probably drill them out, heat the outer sleeve with a torch to warm it up, and maybe extract the pin.

The fact that you had to ask and weren't greasing your hinges doesn't bode well though.

two tiny little hinges on that monstrosity? Was just a matter of time. How much does the gate weigh?

those hinges look way undersized for the size of that gate, I asgree with the other anon no wonder they snapped off, I'd weld on something more substantial or you'll have the same problem.

Just stick a Philips Head in the hinge and blow it with a Hammer.

Make every hit a SLAMMER

That Solves your pin in hinge problem, but doesn't solve the main issue of uaing those hinges to begin with. just torch them off and weld on hyoooooge Hinge
