Looking for a chemical/solution to destroy hair. I'm looking to replace my shower drain this weekend or so. I know it's got a huge gross long chunk of hair hanging underneath, because I can't slide the drain to the side when I lift it.

Hair shit like this makes me vomit. Every time. Is there anything I can go buy that will destroy most of the hair before I pull it out and replace it? I can't get a plumber to do it for me.

Rubber gloves, garbage can right next to you, you can slice through most of the hairs on the topside of the drain with a blade, then breaking the sludge clot off the drain grate will be easy once you lift it out, and you just drop the turd in the trash. The less you look directly at it the less grossed out you will be.

Just buy some lye and dump it down the drain. The heat from the reaction melts the hair.

they just sit atop the drain and catch all the hair

if you are afraid of the smell, just get some proper M3 odor filters on a half face mask, it's gonna cost you $50 in total. Also don't forget eye protection.

use drain cleaner (lye) retard, but don't expect too much if it's a huge chunk, it will only partially melt it. anything strong enough to fully dissolve the hair would do too much collateral damage (like piranha solution)
