I have a Neptune 4 Plus, I really like it and the print area is 320 x 320 x 385mm. I've been using it for about a year and a half now. I saw some of those Bambu printers that are fully enclosed and I really like that, I was thinking I'd get one of those in the future if I ever need a new printer but they're pretty pricey. But now Elegoo has this Centauri Carbon printer which is fully enclosed like those bamboo printers are and is wayyyyyyy cheaper (or at least here in Japan it's a lot cheaper) so I'm considering getting one but the print area is only 256ร—256ร—256mm which is quite a bit smaller than my current printer.

What do you guys think of that size print area, or even this style or printer in general?

I keep my printer on a table in my genkan, and I'm considering moving it under the table and covering it with something to prevent dust and hanging onto it as a backup in case I need to print something large, but that sounds like a borderline hoarder mentality.

Bambu is having a sale in a few days, wait for this even if you buy elegoo. They might respond with a sale of their own.

It depends on what you're using the printer for. Do you regularly print things larger than 256x256x256? Also nothing wrong with holding on to your current one as a backup

Not usually, but I have. I'm fine with hanging into the current one as a backup, but I'm not sure how my wife would feel about it

bambu is fine but they go out of their way to lock you into their ecosystem. you can get out of it easy enough, but still, you have to get out of it.
qidi's offerings aren't any worse. i have 2 xmax3s and 2 plus4s. the xmax3 is comparable in area (lil smaller, i think) to the centauri. the plus 4 is a little smaller still, but is a better printer than the xmax3, feature-wise.
i never used bambu, and i just don't care. the fact that they have to do all the relentless shilling tells me all i need to know. and if they can afford to toss them at every jewtuber on the planet with 50 subs, there's no valid reason for them to cost as much as they do.

I bought a century carbon and the only downside is that it's loud as fuck but otherwise it's literally a click and forget printer. Only problem is that you can't really print a 256*256 full block

That's part of why I'm interested in the Elegoo. I like that the Bambu printer is fully enclosed so I was attracted to that but it's so expensive, and now Elegoo has a printer of that type for half the price. I'm already using an Elegoo printer and I like it, so I'd like to stick with this brand since I feel like I know what to expect.

How loud is it? I read that the fans are pretty loud, but also some people were saying you could replace them with quieter fans like noctua. Do you know how the noise compares to the Neptune series printers? I have a Neptune 4 Plus and it's not loud but it's not quiet. I keep it in my genkan though so I don't really hear it elsewhere in my house.

256 is a pretty usable size, and I was able to make human head-sized objects with it. But it does cut it a bit close. Your current print area is much more usable for e.g. helmets

that's just a one-time marketing fee.
VCs eat that shit up.
Bambu really did dominate the market for a time just by adding sensors to the printer to turn it into more of an appliance, in a market where everyone was just churning out featureless bed slingers

Thanks for your feedback guys. I basically decided that I was going to buy the CC but was gonna wait and save a bit and then had a mishap at home today where a long print mysteriously failed and then later it failed the exact same way again shortly before it was set to finish and I discovered that my son (who's way too old to be doing this shit) touched it (what the fuck???) while it was printing... So I went ahead and pulled the trigger, I need an enclosed printer before my son ruins my prints again or burns himself...

On the bright side, I was able to buy it from a local shop with free shipping (would have been $30 to shop from Elegoo), plus got a discount coupon from that shop that allowed me to save another $30! So at least there's some good that came out of this.

Largest thing was a ramp for my mother's guinea pigs as she wanted to add a 2nd floor to their enclosure. Ended up taking 4 prints due to the size and I just joined it all with super glue. Overall it worked out just fine but a few of the joins that were just 2 flat surfaces sanded and glued didn't hold very well.

now see, thats why i make sure to introduce people to my printer by cranking the heated bed up to 80c (for ABS printing) and ask them to pass me the buildplate so i can gluestick it.
they grab it, nearly burn their hands and i can tell them "yeah this thing runs at like 300c, cant touch it while its on" and from then on they're scared to get near the thing, thye downside is they hear about printers burning down houses and worry about any printer, but at least they dont fucking touch an active print.

Do you just put the roll on top of the printer and push the button? That's fine for a short print, but if you're printing something that takes multiple days than you're a dummy dumb dumb if you do that. Make a dry box, cut up some reusable silica packs and dump the beads into the bottom of the dry box and put a humidity monitor in there, put your filament roll into the dry box, and run the filament through a PTFE tube that connects from a hole in the drybox (sealed with rubber so it's air tight to the extruder on your printer.

I have an acrylic enclosure with a spool for the reel of filament inside. Problem is 100% RH seeps into everything. Like nigga, it was 93ยฐF and 100% RH yesterday. I could probably get some duct tape and tape up every joint on the enclosure and the seal on the door to help, but I just really don't like the idea of fucking with the door in case I have to open it up to take care of something quickly.

and homemade primers have been a thing for a while you just need to look for the right formulas, and a cap making tool for stamping cut up aluminum cans, not sure about the anvils though
