is the coil behind the panels where the exhaust pipe is making it's shape?

this is vague, that looks like an air mover with a gas furnace flue puncturing duct work on an angle, concern for buildup and fire with those twist turns and lack of venturi.
coil generally refers to a compressors heat transfer system; an hvac systems compressor and heat transfer coils are often outside with a large fan in a box, becareful coils are often filled with a liquid a refrigerant, empty hollow sealed tubes are called heat pipes.

What are you trying to solve here? Is your AC weak and someone told you to clean the coils? If so the easiest thing to try would be trying to clean the outside unit. Mine was only a few years old and was completely caked with dust. I took the sheet metal louvers off and loosened the dust with a toothbrush and sucked it off with a shop vac. Be very carful not to bend the fins, they are very thin.

If that doesn't work then lookup the parts diagram on your furnace to see where the coils are. If everything is clean and its still weak then its time to call a pro.

Am I just wrong, but why the fuck is there a filter after the furnace. You need one before or else the coil and blower wheel are going to get filthy. As for coils encased in ductwork, you'll need to find where the line set comes in to the metal box. Be careful and cut a hole to access the coil. Use a piece of sheet metal to seal it back up once you're done. One place to start is taking the humidifier cover and panel off the ductwork and seeing if the coil is right there.

>What are you trying to solve here?

when I run my ac in the summer, there is a smell that comes out of the floor vents. the smell is similar to walking into the bathroom 5 min after someone took a shit, or the smell of wet dirt that sometimes has a hue of shit smell. its just bad enough that i don't run the ac. this has been going on for many years. it never happens when i use the heat, only cooling in the summer.

searching online I determined the coil for the ac in the furnace has mold on it. i want to access it to clean it rather than have some hvac guy come out and pocket 500 bucks.

Probably a downflow furnace. A humidifier like that is usually on the return as well.

That humidifier ain't doing you any favors with the mold issue.
