Hi guys. Anyone knows what this little guy is?
I find many of them when taking water out of my well. Every now and then, there will be one in the bucket. They seem to be amphibious.
The length of the little fella is between 1.5 and 2 inches

I guess it is. Thanks, anon. Shouldn't I be seeing dragon flies around on the property?

Not always. They can be larvae for 3 years but only dragonflies for a few months. A dragonfly produces 1000 eggs but the survival rate is crazy low, you may see one dragonfly to every 100+ larvae, and as soon as they can fly they will happily fly 100 miles away to find a chill place to reproduce

they eat all the harmful bugs in your water and then as dragonflies they'll eat all the flying ones around. they are good friends like spiders.

Whenever I want to see dragonflies, I just go to my local swampy forest which has a trail suitable for a mountain bike. It has thousands of mosquitos swarming you the moment you stop cycling like your life depends on it, and if you pay attention, you can see dozens of dragonflies darting around, hunting them all day.

OP here.
So, it is better if I throw the larvae back into the well or can they survive outside?

in larva form, they're basically amphibians that can't survive outside of water.
