Last year my basement flooded cause the light wells filled with water and pushed open the windows ever so slightly. new windows that are waterproof are like 2k without installation. the light wells have drainage but it was blocked by all the debris and the sheer amout of water, i already had a company clean them and luckily i had insurance so they paid for the basement. for the time being i used an acrylic sheet and silicone to make them waterproof but that obviously stops any air coming in too so i can't use them to let air in anymore. so now i thought about building something like pic rel but i have trouble to come up with a good design. thought about using magnets to hold the plastic screen to the window so i can remove it completely or do a little window like in the pic. does anyone on here has any idea or experiences? thanks in advance

Sandbags placed around the window or well when the weather event is incoming. Board over the lightwell to prevent direct rain ingress. Perfect? No. Cheap and effective.

add soil around the window well so water doesn't pool near it, also grade your yard a bit to channel the water away.
if you can't do either of that for whatever reason do >>2927524 and get a sump pump for more extreme rain till you can repair it properly.

got any pics? it could help.

Is this a spot to hand drugs out or something? That looks homemade. Why the fuck is your basement window like 3/4 of an inch thick lexan?
