How to fix?
The railing is loose, very wiggly. Is there a way to connect it to the plexiglass without any huge noticeable changes? Or some other way to secure it? Selling the house, need a fix.

The daring juxtaposition of modern laminate glass mounted next to ancient wood painted 20 times over is /abo/mination material.

That's fucking awful, get rid of that glass. A 2x4 might fit in there good. Get one and some dowel centering pins, 3/8 or 1/2. Use 2 oak dowels to secure the 2x4 at the bottom, drill through the 2x4 at the top into the railing and put 1 or 2 dowels. Use actual wood glue and go at least an inch into both sides. By no means perfect but will make it less of a death trap. Of course I have no idea what's under the stairs so if you're attaching the 2x4 to some bullshit it won't do anything. You could always get a better wood than a 2x4 but I'm trying to make it simple. Paint it to match.

Grease the bottom piece of wood, preferably where the loose pieces are, then hit the top with a ball peen hammer as hard as you can. You may want to cover it with a towel or foam where you're striking as not to leave marks. Good luck anon.
